Subject: USS CHESAPEAKE: Engineering Status Report
SD 90729.2207 (EDT)
MD 15.0945
Scene: Bridge
Tarell had barely found the time to sleep over the last few
days
as he learned all that he could about the CHESAPEAKE. He
had spent most of his nights reading over the Engineering
back
logs, as well as doing personal interviews with his staff.
He had
found them quite a bunch of characters.
On yesterday's gamma shift, the Engineering crew had finally
been able to correct the confinement problem that had been
plaguing the secondary fusion reactor, and for now all of
the
ship's Engineering systems were running at optimal
efficiency.
Tarell just hoped it stayed that way long enough for him to
get some rest.
The first order of business for the day, however, was to
deliver
his report to Cdr. Miris on the bridge. He hadn't had the
opportunity to meet his new XO yet, had barely met any of
the command staff, he had been so busy. But he figured that
now was as good a time as any to let her know that the ship
was ready for action, and to get acquainted. Surely with
the negotiations ongoing in the observation lounge, now
would be a quiet shift. <EG>
Stepping out of the turbolift, Tarell strode to where Cdr.
Miris stood looking over the status reports left by Gamma
Shift. Stopping in front of the Lt. Commander, Tarell
waited until she finished reading the PADD in front of her
before
speaking.
"Good morning, sir. I am Ensign Tarell Armstrong, Chief
Engineer aboard the CHESAPEAKE. I just wanted to
make your acquaintance and hand deliver my status report."
Tarell could feel that his Highland accent was showing,
which
it sometimes did when he was nervous. He hoped that Lt.
Cdr.
Miris wouldn't see that too easily however.
NRPG: Just wanted to make an appearance on the bridge.
While I am meeting the XO, figured I would tell you a
little
true bio info.
I am a 29 (almost 30, but not yet), year old Senior
at North Carolina State University, (NOT UNC), majoring
in Nuclear Engineering. I hope to finish my undergraduate
degree this coming school year and my Master's of Science
the following. Here's hoping. I am married to one of the
most beautiful women in the world, and have two very
strange cats and one weird dog. I do love them though.
I spent some time in the US Army, and got to do all kinds
of neat things, like crawl in the mud, run forever, jump out
of airplanes, that kind of thing. But I sure did learn that
I want to have an indoor job when I grow up.
I have been a ST fan since the OS was first in re-run, and
even
remember the animated series, (GASP)
Well, don't want to bore you any more, so I'll quit
for now. I look forward to the peaceful completion
of our mission, eh ? Somehow, I don't think so.
By the way, the developing love triangles look much more
like
"As The Ship Orbits", instead of "Days"
(Of course, I NEVER watch any of those horrid soaps.)
See ya,
Jim
