Lieutenant (junior grade) Derek Fielding listened attentively to the
FCO with something approaching alarm. Bug and grub juice? Fly-type
thingie? He could only hope that the Corellian insect population was less
likely to cause fatal illnesses than the ones found on Earth.

"Errr... I *see*," he said, as Mr. O'Graeach finished telling him of
the biscuits. "If I might ask, how do you know so much about Corellian
delicacies? It seems to me that you didn't have a very good experience with
them; I would have thought you'd run away from them, if you'll pardon the
assumption, before you saw what they ate."

Derek studied the red-haired young man thoughtfully. There was one
thing, he thought, about those psychometric tests of Anne's. He would have
loved to test out this most unusual person.

<<NRPG: Fabian, you do a better Derek (and Anne!) than I do an Oz, so I
leave the rest to you.... ::wink::>>

Derek had decided to get yet another glass of lime-cherry juice when
his comm badge chirped.

He tapped it, fully expecting it to be Anne with more orders.

"Yeah?" was, consequently, his casual answer.

[Sir, you asked us to advise you if we saw any carbon currents
within forty parsecs of our current position,] the voice said calmly. Derek
placed it as Cadet Gerri Lancivernon's. [The current is approaching slowly,
and it seems to be dissipating.]

"Good... thank you for the information, Mr. Lancivernon. I will be
there at 2300 hours or earlier. Please let me know if the current comes
closer than ten parsecs."

        [Yes, sir. Lancivernon out.]

Derek let his mind file away the information, then clicked back into
socialization mode. It wouldn't do to let the Corellians and ShipOres
representatives think that there was a problem.

Respectfully submitted,

All: Sorry so short... :(

Takako: Yup, I know that he's been breveted (::wink::)... but at the time of
this post, he's still O-2 and aCSciO. :)

Matthew: NRPG coming your way...

Melvin: Is th'Tellan enjoying the reception?

Jim: Too bad Armstrong missed the reception... but Derek would probably want
to visit Engineering anyway... <EG>

Lynnaea: Nice post, Lynnaea! And I wish you the very best in your move into
college life! :)

Fabian: As stated above, I leave it to you. Your last post was
*hilarious*... I just hope poor Oz doesn't get court-martialed! :)

Chris: Derek thinks Catherine is a gem... just thought I'd let you know. :)

James: You will probably find that Derek is a *lot* easier to deal with than
Anne. Otherwise, you *know* I'd made a mistake! :)

Naomi: Derek might want to visit David, if only to chat. Is David at the
reception? As the Marine Commanding Officer, I shouldn't wonder if he
*is*... :) If not, though, no fear... Derek is an outgoing type of guy... :)

Greg, Trevin: I'm kinda wary about approaching either of your characters;
however, if they, for some odd reason, wish to speak with the aCSciO, they
are more than welcome... and he *doesn't* throw PADDs. ;)

"She's the *Captain*," WhitePaws quickly whispered in his sister's ear,
"I think that you're supposed to call her Captain!"

Thought for the day: If you were a computer program, what part would
                     you be?
or, if you don't like computers,
If you were a house, what part of it would you be?
