Ivan never really knew his parents or his sister.   His parents were Nicholas Andrew Tondry and Heather Cossio.  Nicholas Tondry worked on the helm of a freightor for a starfleet robotics factory.  He was very content with his job and very happy with daily work.  Even so he always tried to make work easier and was always trying to create machines to do everyday tasks he had to complete.  Nicholas was always a quiet person and didn't have many friends.  The phrase "its not what you know but who you know" didn't apply to Nicholas, due to his lack of friends as well as the fact his parents were never very important in starfleet.  His mother (Ivan's grand mother), Andrea Milton, as a computer repairman.  She met her husband, Matthew Tondry, doing this.  Matthew Tondry was a weapons scientist, and, though never truely successful in any invetions, he was considered a genius amoung his coworkers.  They met when a replicator in his dwelling broke down and Andrea came to repair it. Ivan's mother, Heather, was a warp specialist aboard the U.S.S. Rennex.  She spent most of her life in space.  Every thing about space and space travel fascinated her, this is what drove her to become a warp specialist.  She met Nicholas Tondry when she was on shoreleave.  Heather's mother, Ivan's Grandmother, Anna Trucia, worked as a cook in a local bar on earth.  Ivan's grandfather worked on earth as well.  Duncan Cossio was a maintence worker at the power plant that supplied energy to the very Bar Anna Trucia worked at., Ivan Tondry was born in space, 3 years after his parents were maried.  He had one sister named Diana.  When Ivan was 3 his parents took him and his sister with them on a mission to a star to research a new power source that was going to take a 4 months.  It was during the return trip that a renegade Klingon Fleet attacked.  The ship was boarded and most of the crew was killed.  The Tondry's made it to the escape pods but the klingons were in persuit and to hold them off the Tondry parents tried to hold them off but they eventually made it past them and tracked the children.  The klingons followed the children down to the pods and in a barage of fire they hit Diana.  Ivan had no idea until he was in the pod and the door closed.  Ivan still has no clue what happened to them.  Ivan lived at an orphanage and always kept on top of all his studies. Ivan tried to have friends but after a while he realized it was either school or friends.  He chose school.  Ivan always held a fascinations for technology.  Even after that tragic event he continued his studies to get back at those who seperated him from his family.  While he was in starfleet acadamy his physical strength and mental aptitude carried him through.  He triple majored in pioloting, weapon technology, and systems repair.  He felt a strong attachment to piloting small ships.  He impressed all his professers and it was them who pointed him toward the marines.

(History)  After the acadamy he was assigned to the marines.  He was the best of his troope and it wasn't long before he became captain.  Soon he had his own squadron nicknamed "The Swarm".  They had the lowest ship/personel loss of any other marine unit on  his station.    Ivan worked hard and soon he got the assignment he of his dreams.  He was going on an offensive against a Jem'hadar out post.  They made it and won the station in only 6 hours.  On the way back a freak accident caused them to end up in the wrong system.  Luck was not with them.  They ran into an alien fleet who opened fire the second they came out of warp.  Not much is known about the battle seeing as how only 3 one man ships made it back to the starbase.  One pilot was left terminally insane, all that was in one ship was a bloody mess because there had been a fracture in the hull and he died one parsec from the station.  The final pilot was Ivan.  To this day he chooses not to talk about it.  He is currently stationed aboard the USS Cortez.
