The Flight Deck for December 2001, Issue 103
Hi crew,
It’s with mixed feelings I write this last “From the Bridge”. I really
have enjoyed being your Captain and wish circumstances were so that I
could stay on. There’s just too much uncertainty though with my job
ending and me trying to start out in a brand new career! Not to mention,
sell this house, get a new house, sell some property! I will continue
to come to meetings as often as possible. I’ll be around!
Last month, a good time was had by all (some more than others!) at
Slanted Fedora’s Thanksgiving Convention. At our Starfleet Command
meeting, the Halsey took 3rd place for our website (thanks to Paul!),
honorable mention as Large Ship of the Year and yours truly was awarded
the Lifetime achievement award! Wow! Pretty cool, huh!
We have a bunch of stuff to do this month…we’ll be having the Christmas
party at our house on Saturday, Dec. 15th at 430pm. We’ll socialize awhile
and then eat around 6pm. Last I heard we were having ham and you all
should bring a side dish. Let me know please what you are bringing so that
we don’t have twenty broccoli casseroles! Roseann is doing macaroni and
cheese. I also need someone to bring good plastic plates and cups. Don’t
forget your present for the infamous Chinese gift exchange! Security will
be on hand in case things get out of control! We’ll also be having a change
of command ceremony and CAPT Cathy Dailey will be taking over the ship as
of Jan. 1, 2002. If she gets snowed in, we’ll have it next month. On the
very next day, Sunday, Dec. 16th, we’re having cake and ice cream for
Alex’s birthday at 4pm.
On Sunday, December 23, 2001, we’ll be meeting at Showplace 16 to see
“Lord of the Rings”. We’ll be doing the first showing 1pm or later. Last,
but not least, we’ll be having our New Years Eve party here on…you guessed
it, Dec. 31st! We’ll start at 7pm. Please bring a gourmet goodie or at
least, something out of the ordinary! Also, any games you’d like to play
(don’t forget there’ll be a bunch of kids here!) Mark says everyone dress
up, but you can bring comfort clothes for later if you want.
Well, that’s about all. See you soon!
Live long and prosper!
