Born on 1st April 2337 to Danyer Andyen, a Betazoid terraforming scientist, and his wife, a Centauran doctor named Feyen. The couple met in a hospital in 2334, as Doctor and patient, after Danyer fell of a cliff that he had been climbing when a ledge gave way under his weight as he was reaching for a new hand hold. This accident netted him a shattered ribcage, punctured lung and diaphragm, and two broken legs. During his long stay in hospital, he got to know the doctor who treated him. She saw something in him, and spent a lot of her time with the young (31 year old) betazoid. Seeing in him someone who understood her, better than anyone else. Once he was released from hospital, they continued to see each other, and a year later they married.
When Jennifer was born, she was immediately diagnosed as having a disease of some sort, but no one could identify it. She spent most of her first year in hospital, under going various scans, and treatments, before the cause of the disease was identified. It turned out that it was a genetic disorder, for which her father was a carrier. The disease would normally have been prevented by the DNA of her mother, if her mother had been a non carrier betazoid. The disease, normally fatal, was not prevented by her mothers DNA, but it was abated by it. Keeping her alive, but her muscles were severely atrophied by the disase, beyond recovery. So since she has been large enough for it to fit her, Jennifer has had to use a light exoskeletal support frame, that augments her strength to that of a strong human. At first she hated the frame, because to her it represented her frailty, but now she has come to see it as part of herself.
After starting to use the frame, she attended school normally on Alpha Centauri, proving to be an exceptionally intelligent child. However, not long after turning twelve, the psionic abilities that are part of her heritage from her father started to manifest, so the family moved to Betazed so that she could learn how to control her abilites, and develop them.
Despite not being as psionically strong as any of her class mates, Jennifer has a good range of psi skills. These skills allow her to sense the emotions of those nearby, and have a limited range Telepathic conversation with another, and even, at close range, to pick up the thoughts of another. This training also allowed her to develop a strong mind shield, which she has developed over the years to shut out distractions whilst she worked.
When she turned 18, she applied to Starfleet academy, her parents worried that she would be turned down because of her disability, but they were relieved, and overjoyed when she was accepted. So, she left home for San Fransisco, Earth. The home of Starfleet Academy. Over the next few years, she took every course in medicine and the medical sciences that she could, and her lecturers and friends noticed this and did their best to support her and help her along. After 4 enjoyable, if busy years at the academy, Jennifer graduated second in her class, and was assigned to the USS Merrimack, a Nebula Class cruiser for her 1 year cadet cruise. After that she stayed there, not wanting to move on after her cadet cruise ended. Over the next few years, she was promoted to Lieutenant j.g. and then again to a full Lieutenant, as the Merrimack patrolled hroughout Federation space.
In 2367, the Merrimack was called to defend a small unarmed science station from a Romulan D’deridex class warbird. Though the Romulans were driven off, the Merrimack was all but crippled in the fight, saved only by the arrival of the Bellerephon, another Nebula class ship.
Jennifer was put in charge of a roving medical team, assigned to help those not badly injured enough to require sickbay, but hurt enough to need treatment. As the team proceeded through the ship, a team member thought he heard faint cries for help from one crewman quarters. The medical team forced the door open to face a scene from hell. A EPS conduit had blown out, spilling plasma into the room, before the ships emergency systems stopped the leak. The room was awash with flame, but there were indeed cries for help coming from the room. Jennifer entered the room, and dragged a small boy from under the body of his mother, and hauled him from the room.
Once out of the room, Jennifer and the boy were taken to sickbay. Jennifer needed treatment for 3rd degree burns to 80% of her body. Once things had settled down a bit, the cpatain, one Toway Nirax, and Andorian promoted her on the spot to Lieutenant Commander, to replace one of the doctors, who had died in the battle, and put her name down for a medal. Not long after, Jennifers promotion was confirmed by Starfleet command, and she was presented with the Kragite order of Heroism.
About 5 months after she recovered, she was transferred to yet another ship. The new Akira class vessel, USS Maelstrom, as Chief Medical Officer......
