David's childhood was characterised by the brilliance of his sister Leah, and his apparent mediocrity.
Alara Wilson Brahms, David's Wife
Always good, but not good enough, he struggled to equal what his sister had accomplished a few years before him. Irritatingly he did indeed come top of his class, but with consistently lower percentile scores than his sister had achieved.

Embittered, he decided that striking out on his own was by far a better idea. Unfortunately he wasn't suited to any other branch of study, and reluctantly gave up competing with his sister. As a side effect, his relationship with her and the rest of the family improved considerably.

About the age of fourteen, strange things began happening around David. Things would move, people would feel gentle pushes on their bodies, sometimes odd noises and David began having severe fits of lethargy and sudden black-outs. Fearing the worst, his parents sent him to numerous medical facilities, all of which were non-plussed. It was only when David had an episode whilst strapped into a ECG machine that the elevated activity in the psychic centre of his brain was identified, as a hypo-spray flew across the room, to land at the Doctors feet.

It seemed that David was capable of a uncontrolled form of Telekinesis. Thanking the Doctors for their work, his parents and sister, who was by now already heading for the Daystrom Institute, agree'd that David needed help. What followed were years of travel between his home on Mars, and a Betazed facility where his Talent was defined.

During this time David set his sights on a career in Starfleet, but he wanted to prove himself at the Institute first. Whilst there, he quickly realised that although he knew his subjects, Astronomy and Geology exceedingly well, he was not a genius like his sister in her field. So, coming to terms with that, he took the tests to join and passed easily, he was quite surprised.

In 2363, aboard the USS Crazyhorse, he met his wife Alara Wilson, a fellow Science officer within Stellar Cartography. They fell in love instantly, wrecking his previously cynical world view, which Alara found quite pleasing. A very difficult woman to please, she pursued him relentlessly, badgering him for dates and generally turning up at random points with bottles of Malt Whiskey and Chocolates. Quite sure that he was supposed to be doing the wooing, he gave in gracefully and they were going out for only a short time before she proposed, he gave in gracefully, again. She currently serves aboard the USS Pharoah, as Chief of Science.

The rest is still to be written...............

His personality stems around his perceived freakish mutation, and his failure to achieve the status of his sister. Whilst he doesn't sit in his quarters a seething ball of jealousy, it does bother him that his family are less proud of him. His love for his Wife keeps him going in times of stress, she keeps in near constant communication with him and they often send little gifts to each other. Their separate posting might have strained the relationship, but it seems to have had little effect other than to keep them physically apart.

The limits of his Telekinesis; He can displace his own strength and in times of desperation or fear, more. The results are proportional to effort, tiredness, blackouts in extreme circumstances and dizzyness. Hence, his strength is largely equal, what he pushes, must have an equal effect upon him. That is, unless he pushes real hard and then he might go into a coma. It is unknown what his limits are as regards stamina, the facility didn't want to push him too hard, humans not being the most famously psionically gifted species going.
