Originally from Bajor, Sajana moved around a lot in the beginning, her family trying to escape the Cardassian threat after she was badly wounded as a small child by a Cardassian man trying to force her to leave her mother. She learned many languages, and took up an interest in alien cultures, but always seemed to return to Earth, where her father's adopted sister lived. She found a love for music, cuisine, and an insatiable curiosity from her aunt. This unusual family enjoys a tight bond of love that was always impressed on Sajana. Growing up in this way made her more sensitive towards others problems, and so tossed around the idea of becoming a counselor for a while, but didn't want to take the time out to go though all of the schooling. Always looking for something new, she took up Mok'bara, a Klingon martial art, to help keep fit. She was always a stickler for athletics and self defense, and took up many other forms of martial exercise. Practicing this many times a week gives her a sense of inner peace and harmony that only true martial arts can give. She also loves animals, and after a long search found a little black kitten that she decided to take care of. Little did she know how much of a comfort that cat would be during many lonely hours. She named him Jolie, after Angelina Jolie, one of her favorite old Earth actresses. He grew up to be a beautiful, long haired cat with orange eyes. After living on Earth for many years, and picking up many human traits, she went back to Bajor to find lost family, and found it all very different then she remembered, and was treated in a very offhand manner. They didn't trust her, and thought she had forgotten all that made her Bajoran. She was extremely discouraged, and so returned to Earth. She went through a long period of figuring out just who she was then, and after long debates with herself, and much advice from her aunt and parents, she decided it didn't matter. She was HERSELF, and no one could take that away from her. Her aunt got her into bartending and she thought it was a great way to meet new people, and learn about their life styles, and knew she had found her answer to how she could help people. "A bartender is just a counselor that hasn't gone through school, right?" She told herself. She learned many things, and found she had a flair with language. She found she could relate to a person if she could speak the language, and so started trying to learn all the different tongues she could hear. She picked up many Old Earth languages with ease, and learned fluent Vulcan, semi-fluent Klingon, and Centauran, on top of Federation Basic, Bajoran, and some Cardassian. After serving many drinks, in many bars, her eyes turned upward to the stars. She looked for a post on a starship, and was pleased when she got the bartending spot on the USS Maelstrom. She set off with Jolie towards a new hope for life, and feels that this is what she has lived for, and hopes to get to know the crew, and travel the galaxy learning everything she can.
