Born and raised on Vulcan Soriavek's childhood was nothing unusual.
His Father, Tilvek, is a diplomat. His speciality being the negotiation of treaties, a task on which he has worked with none other than Sarek himself. His Mother, T'lio, is a scientist. She has worked on many and varied projects, although always keeping to the background through her own choice.

Soriavek was raised mainly by T'lio, his father having spent a lot of time away on missions for starfleet. This lead him to take a natural interest in science. So much so that he graduated from the Vulcan Academy of Science as the best student of the year.

Naturally, the next thing to do was to apply to Starfleet, which he duly did. Unfortunately this was also where things started to go a little wrong. Soriavek, it seemed, had a natural flair for the scientific subjects. He also had quite the opposite in others. The majority of the engineering subjects seemed to be too much for Soriavek. Whilst he could understand them and perform the practical basics he needed, it soon bacame clear that he would never actually become 'good' at them. This, of course, resulted in him graduating from the Academy as a merely average student.

This did not prevent him being posted to a research station attached to a Starbase on the edge of the neutral zone. Most of the research done there was top secret, and soon Soriavek earned the respect of his fellows. This was due to his intelligence, and his ability to adapt to any problem.

Soon he was promoted and handed his own project. His task, to attempt to create a Stable Wormhole. He succeeded. Or at least he thought he had. A wormhole was created in a secret location, and various probes were sent through to test its stability. Things were looking very positive, the Wormhole seemed stable. Now they required a volunteer to go through it. Soriavek decided that he was the 'logical' choice to do this, and so he did.

Unfortunately, the wormhole seemed to collapse not long after he had flown. Soriavek was listed as missing.

Twenty years later Soriavek returned. He was convinced that he had only spent an hour in the wormhole. Which had only reappeared momentarily to return Soriavek. The next year was spent in Starfleet command. In a combination of debriefing and rereintegration.

Later, to assist in this, Soriavek was posted to the USS Hood as the Asst. Chief Science Officer. This title, however, was more of an honorific. The main concern was to ensure that Soriavek was fully integrated back into starfleet life.

Soriavek has adapted well to his odd set of circumstances, and is now seemingly fully recovered. So much so that he has now been offered the post of Chief Science Officer on the soon to be commisioned USS Maelstrom.

The rest is still to be written...............

Typical Vulcan. Calm, cool, collected and unemotional.
