Was part of pre com crew, and in Bremerton WA while Seattle was being finished and preped for delivery. Also, part of Commissioning Crew 4/5/69. Was Throttleman in #2 engine room on first outing after acceptance. For last 15 or so months of duty served
as Eng. Office Yoeman under CMDR Jeske and later CMDR French. Enjoyed my tenure on board Seattle. Had REALLY GREAT times in many ports. Especially "bringing her home" to Norfolk from west coast. Those glorious 7 days in Acapulco. What a great time ha
by all in New Orleans, especially @ "My Fathers Mustache". The times in the Med were unforgettable. Athens, Mykinos, Crete, Barcelona, Naples (ah, Naples), Augusta Bay in Sicily (is that great pizza shop near the park still there? BEST PIZZA IN THE WO
LD!!! And there house wine ain't too shabby either). What a Christmas and New Year's Eve in Villefrance and Monte Carlo. Prince Ranier and Princess Grace were great hosts. Anyone remember coming to my home in the Shenandoah Valley for liberty? Great
oones Farm wine, and scenery. Would like to see the Seattle again. Still homeported in Norfolk? Any Commissioning Crew Reunions planned? Anyone have an original Seattle Pilots baseball cap. Hate to think how many I had!! and lost. Would like to hea
from any shipmates from that period. Still have a couple of Cruise Books. Names I forget, faces I generally remember. My email address will become inactive 8/28/98 when our daughter takes her computer to college. Use snail mail. Plankowner McIntosh,
MM3 signing off. Note to author: Great web page.

Nice site!! Good to see someone remembered the "Sea-Bitch" as we lovingly called her! Look forward to seeing more about her & hearing more from old shipmates.
All I can remember about her is that the first Captain I sailed under was "Any time, any where!". Our second Captain (Captain David Frost) was a liberty hound like the rest of us!
Bravo Zulu!!

I'm happy to find this web sight. I Started my sea duty on board Seattle. It's now over 22 years later and I'm just weeks away from retiring as a Master Chief. Seattle Was good to me and so was Senior Chief Thomas my LCPO I'd like to here from him or any
the engineers from that time.
I was on board Seattle in may and she looked great!

Thanks to the USN, they helped me with the foundation to my technical career in telecomunications. I'm currently working for AT&T as the Network Operations Manager. I live in sunny South Florida where the women are hot and the beer is cold. I would lik
to thank those of you who served with me during Operation Desert Storm. It was an experiecne I will never forget. Just one note for the new IC's on the ship "have fun with the Pitsword".

Interesting to know the old gal has finally been fitted to do some real fighting. We always got a kick out of the 3"-50's pop guns.

I was in the precom crew. A Barber (if that is what you want to call it) while precom was in Dago. I opened the Ships Store. Had the best times of my life on that boat.

I remember reporting aboard and thinking that this had to be the ugliest ship in the fleet.
But when it was time to get on the helicopter at
Al Masirah I really did not want to go. There is nothing in this world like flying a rig at 0300 and knowing that you do it better than anyone else out there. Any Station.

I was in "Missle Division" later renamed OM. I worked with many great guys and often think about the endless days filled with boredom and excitement. I was a contributing photographer for the Cruise Books published during this period. Some folks I stil
enjoy thinking about are; FTM2 Richard Dawes, FTM2 Peter Spiro, FTM2 Kevin Phillips, FTM3 John Kolbinski, GS2 Reginald Dri, LT Stanley DeJesus, GMM3 Gransbury and many more. Good luck to all of my fellow and now "sister" shipmates, as I understand that
ost ships now have women onboard. Oh lord, just to think about it! ;-)
