Saw a few names on the list from time I was on board. Is the Anderson that was there in 73 the Captain. I was the captains boat driver when I was discharged. I will have to get my cruise book out and see of I can locate some of my old buddies.

What a thrill it was today to find this web page . . I can't thank you enough. I also am a plankowner, starting in San Diego with all the usual pre-com schools, fire fighting, damage control, 3" - 50's and etc.. We left there on two commercial chartered
flights to Bremerton, Wash.. I could tell you a millon stories while on board the Seattle, but I won't bore you . . unless of course some ask. I was a first loader on one of the gun mounts and actually have a brass round firied during testing (the secon
round ever fired from the ship . . a chief gunner got the first one. One day when I have time, I'll write back with some wild stories about the crazy things we did on board and how we ever survied them I don't know. Anybody on the pre-com crew remember
the fire that broke out one night about 3:00am . . what a scare, the told us prior to the shake-down cruise that if the ship ever caught fire don't jump overboard . . you'd have to swim 3 days to get out of the blast. Or how about the guy that jumped ove
board after we left the Panama Canal . . . in the middle of the Carribian, can you believe we found the guy some 6-8 hrs. later. He had tied knots in his jeans and made water wings like we learned in boot camp. I could go on forever, but I won't. Any s

Joined Seattle in Rota Spain in early 79. Experienced 3 collosions, saw 3 different captains, and made 2 1/2 med cruises. Went through major overhaul in Brooklyn. Spent time working the CCTV studio. Spent a lifetime on watch in engine room.
