Shavar, Ro'an |
Ro'an Shavar may be Romulan however he thinks and act's like a Terran. He is very extroverted and has a tendency to say what is on his mind before thinking about the consiquences of his words.
Hobbies/Skills-The USS Intrepid was the one to respond to the Klingon distress signal, Charles Shavar was one of the members of the away party who found the survivors. He knew right away that Ro'an was a Romulan. He brought him to the Intrepid with the other two survivors. Once he was safely in his quarters he noticed that emblem on Ro'an tunic which was the emblem for the Tal Shiar, so he knew right away that Ro'an's parents where in the Tal Shiar.
Since the childs name was not known at that time Charles named the boy Ro'an, and records were drawn up in secrecy to have the child legally the Shavar's. Under the circumstances that no one was to know that Ro'an was a survivor of the Khitomer Outpost.
Charles and Serah Shavar where both medical officers on the USS Intrepid. Shortly after they adopted Ro'an they were reassigned to starbase 22 where Charles would be the Chief Medical Officer and Serah would be a medical advisor to Star Fleet. Both the Shavar's were hoping to one day see Ro'an become the first Romulan to ever go through Star Fleet Academy. They knew he would have a hard life, especially with the fright that several of the officers in the Federation felt with the Romulans. As Ro'an grew older his adoptive parents began to spike his interest in medicine.
In 2363, after an extensive review, Ro'an was allowed to begin his studies in the Academy. He was approved by Vice Admiral S'Nok. He opted to become an officer in the medical field as well as studied the command field. He prooved to be a rather apt student. He graduated in the top 10 percent of his class, during his time in the Academy he served on 3 Cadet Cruises. One of which was on the U.S.S. Washington. As his parents had hoped he was the first Romulan to become a Star Fleet Officer. After graduation he was assigned to the U.S.S. Borderstrum, a Medical Transport and Research Vessel.
In 2367 the U.S.S. Borderstrum was present at the Battle of Wolf 359 as the Head Medical Vessel. During this battle against the Borg the Federation lost several officers and ships. Presumably most either destroyed or assimulated. Commanded by Admiral J.P. Hanson, the starfleet armada was decimated by teh Brog ship, resulting in the loss of 39 ships and 11,000 lives. The most of remaining lives where on the some 5 Medical Research and Transport Vessels.
In 2373 the Dominion War began, this was mostly at Deep Space 9. The Borderstrum was called out there once to remove the injured to a more safer location. This war ended 3 years later in 2375. During the Dominion War Ro'an was given the assignment as the Chief Medical Officer.
Four years later he was given the Executive Officer position becuase of the death of the original Executive Officer. Exactly 6 months later Captain Richards the Commanding Officer was forced to resign do to a big mistake. Most of the Senior Officer followed suit as well, except Ro'an becuase he refused to take part in the annihalation of a complete colony. Thats when Star Fleet Command gave Ro'an command of the Borderstrum which he quickly changed the name to the USS Jydian. The only other Senior Officer to remain on the USS Jydian was Lieutenant Commander Kaleth, a Klingon, who was the Chief Operations Officer.
