[[ Holodeck 4 ]]

Mason smiles as Trisha enters the holosuite. "Hey!" She leans against a
Christmas Red '69 Charger and pats it affectionately. She looks like a throw back to an old, 1980's television show in her white shorts, cut-off Kansas City Chiefs T-shirt and Tennis shoes. "I'm ready to go...let's do it!" She casually tosses her long French-braid over her shoulder. She grins as she gestures towards the dirt road, sliding her classic Ray-Ban's on as she lays out the track. "Down to Turner's field, over the
Black River Bridge, come back by McDowell’s road...cut across Tully's and back to here. Loser has to eat lunch of the winners choice." With that Mason pats her car and opens the door.

Trisha chuckles at Mason's words, "Looks like you'll be eating Crow." She
turns, dressed much like Mason with her hair pulled back into pigtails
instead of the normal bun type. "Computer, add a metallic black 1969 Dodge
Charger with a 440 Magnum engine and the doors welded shut, and a black
helmet with two way radio. Make a red one also. And, Computer- Lock the
doors, no entry allowed." She smiles as the car appears and tosses Mason her
helmet. She climbs through the window of the car and puts her helmet on.
"Computer, add the character Luke from the ancient television series "The
Dukes Of Hazzard and have him be the starter." She smiles as he appears and
holds up a blue flag and tells them to get ready. She starts the engine and
adjusts her helmet then looks over to Mason and smiles, "Good luck Mase!"
She yells into her headset. ((Crego))

Mason laughs and returns the sentiment. "Good Luck Trisha!" She starts
her engine, winks at the cute Luke Duke and slips into low...loving the feel
of the powerful engine in her hands. Though not as big as the black
monster's, she didn't have to be more powerful when you had a quality driver
behind the wheel. As Luke brought the flag down, Mason stood on the
execrator and easily slipped from second to third as she leapt off of the
starting line. She new she could get in front of the beast Trisha drove but
keeping her there with that much power behind her was going to be tricky. She
laughed with pure delight as she sped down the lane. "Eat my dust, Crego!"
((Farrel))

Trisha revved up her engine, keeping it in neutral with her hand on the
gearshift waiting for Luke to drop the flag. Her and Mason had been using
this program for years and they both loved it. Each time they'd change the
layout of the race, but it was always in the same location. Outside a little
old southern town.
She watched Luke as he dropped the flag. She slapped the

car into gear and hit the gas. Mason pulled away to start and Trisha slips in
behind her, waiting for her chance to pass her friend without causing either
of them to crash. "You know when we reach Turner's field you're mine." She
spoke into her headset. ((Crego))

Mason nodded as if Trisha could see her and then spoke into the radio
headset of her helmet. "I know, I know...but I have the advantage at the
bridge. As long as I can stay on your tail, I'll take you at the bridge."
Mason changed gears once more and almost cursed as she hit a soft spot and
lost control, giving Trisha the advantage to pass, and pass she did!
"Dagnabit!" Mason tried coming around the black car only to be stopped as
Trisha cut her off. "Nice move." Mason downshifted and slid back behind the
black Charger, waiting for her chance at the bridge. She couldn't help but
smile...she loved this program! It was almost as good as using their own
cars back home, only if they crashed here, no one got hurt. "Don't forget
the cows at the end of the field or you'll wind up with one in your
passenger seat." Once more she attempted to pass Trisha...((Farrel))

Trisha laughs at Mason's words and looks at her in her rear view mirror.
"Not to dusty for you back there is it?" She keeps her foot to the floor and
swerves to block another attempt of Mason's to pass her. She grins as they
near the end of Turner's field and turn to head toward the bridge. She spins
the rear end of the car around and back straight against the turn, kicking
up a huge cloud of dust. She looks in her rear view mirror again at Mason
somewhere in the dust cloud. "You're gonna have to catch me first if you
think you'll get me at the bridge." ((Crego))

Mason had been expecting, what she had dubbed years ago as
"The-in-your-face-eat-my-dust-you-suck" move...She knew she had only a
second to get by her and went low, risking being slammed into the water as
they neared the bridge. She downshifted and felt the car growl beneath
her... "Easy...easy...get by her and I'll put you back in stress-free gear."
It had to happen while Trisha was coming out of the fishtail...and did. "Oh
yea!"
She rubbed her right front fender against Trisha's black beast as she

passed and then slammed the pedal to the floor to get across the bridge
before the black car did. "Watch that ugly black paint on my pretty red
car..." She came off the bridge and gave the wheel a hard left...kicking up
dust of her own. "Close your mouth or you'll wind up with more then dust in
it." ((Mason))

Trisha laughed and slid in right behind Mason, inches from her bumper.
"Don't get any of that red paint on my nice shiny car or you'll get to
repaint it by hand." She kept right on her tail, waiting for the right
moment to pass her. A moment Mason would least expect. "That cow looked a
might close as you passed him back there, got any spots on the side of that
cherry bomb?" ((Crego))

Mason laughed easily and shook her head. "Not yet, thank you. I drive
better than that." She turned the wheel to the left to make the turn onto
McDowell’s road and lost it. She spun completely around just as Trisha passed.
Mason easily downshifted and brought the big red machine back under control,
but the wrong direction. "You suck Crego!" She laughed as she spun the
wheels and turned it back around. She was frustrated that she had lost that
much ground but knew her lighter car would make up for the bigger engine's
power. She floored it and gave a shout as the back tires spewed gravel from
the force of the spin. She jumped back onto the road and had reached top
gear in a few seconds, power shifting her way through the lower gears. In
moments she was back in the dust cloud that was trailing the black Charger.
"I've got you at the turn to Tulley's. I'm not out yet!" ((Mason))

Trisha watches in her rear view mirror and laughs as she speeds ahead of
Mason, "Forget which way we were going?" She kicks up a little dust to make
it harder for Mason to judge just how much distance was actually between
them. She passes a small old barn she remembers having to jump one time
because Mason had forced her off the road. "You may get me at Tulley's turn,
but there's no way you'll beat me on the last stretch and you know it."
((Crego))

Mason laughed right back at her as she turned the wheel left towards the
gravel road that makes up the access road called Tulley's. It was once the
way to get to the old airport but since the highway, it was seldom used.
What made it dangerous was the drop to one side into a shallow ravine and
the soft dirt on the other. "I still have a shot! This road always tears up
your rubber." She down shifted and shot forward just as they make the turn.
They rode side by side for a few feet until she finally edged the nose of
her car past the black bumper of the 17 car. "Move you beautiful red
monster, move!" ((Mason))

Trisha laughed and looked out the passenger side window at Mason beside
her. She down shifted and picked up speed, inching ahead of her friend as
they headed down the final stretch. "Keep dreaming Mase, this road may tear
up my rubber but I'll still have enough to beat you. Besides, it tears up
your tires too." ((Crego))

Mason felt the road beneath her and smiled. "True, true. but she's still
got fire in her. Watch out, Crego." With that, Mason downshifted and inched
her way back even with the bigger, black car. They were twenty feet from the
finish line where Luke Duke was waiving the checkered flag. "I'm gonna take
you!" Just as her own bumper crept ahead, Mason blew a tire. To avoid
slamming into Trisha, and forgetting for the moment that this was a
simulation, she turned the red car away from her friends and headed for the
ravine. With a horrendous thud she came to a jerking halt. Dust spewed
around her and she sat in a daze while everything settled. Holodeck or no,
it was still a jolt to the system. The momentum of the race carried Trisha
and her beautiful black charger across the finish line. winning once more.
((Mason))

Trisha watched Mason go into the ravine and slammed on her brakes as she
skidded across the finish line. She scrambled to get out of the car. She
climbed out the window and ran over to Mason. "Are you alright?" She
helped her friend get out of the car and looked her over to make sure she
was okay without waiting for an answer. "Computer, end program." She
watched as the countryside scene disappeared around them and turned back
into the gold and black of the holosuite. "Let's get back to the ship shall
we? You owe me lunch." She laughed and put her arm around Mason's
shoulder. ((Crego))

Mason laughed and nodded in agreement. "You always win but at least I give you
a run for your money." She adjusted her tunic after her racing outfit was
replaced and then the two walked from the holosuite. They stopped at a
favorite restaurant and sat down, enjoying the time. Mason filled her in on
the going's
on while she was gone and then laughed. "You told Dean not to

barrel roll the thing, you didn't say anything about breaking it." She
grinned. After paying for the great meal the two walked side by side back to
the ship...to return to duty. "Thanks Trisha... I needed that."

Both women went their separate ways then...The captain to the bridge and the
doctor to sickbay.
