Personal History: Meridan was born in a small town on Trill in the only mountainous area near the capital city. The only child of Joined parents she knew from an early age she wanted to be joined as well, she was fascinated by the whole tradition and honour associated with joining. She grew up carefree in the mountains, spending her days climbing everything and anything she could, by her teens being a skilled free climber. She studied extremely hard during this time and excelled as an initiate and normal school studies, unknowingly at the time studying with the symbiont she was eventually to become joined with. When she completed her studies though, there were no symbiont's available to be joined, so she followed the example of some of her initiate friends and joined Starfleet looking to another challenge to test herself again. Once at the Academy she found her niche and quickly settled into her studies, finding the curriculum hard but challenging. It soon became apparent that she had tremendous skills as a pilot and reflexes that were above average, thanks to her training as a climber. She was counted as the best pilot to come out of the academy in years, being put on the command track as well as taking advanced pilot studies. It was also at the Academy that her pilot instructor, Vice Admiral Varshal Pol, whom she had spent her initiate training with, became even more of a mentor and friend to her. When the chance turned up to become joined to a symbiont that already had Starfleet experience she leapt at the chance. At first it was a shock that Varshal wanted her to take Pol, but she did and hasn't regretted it at all. Pol had a little trouble at first as all his previous four hosts had been male and Meridan is it's first female host. Disobeying one of the primary tenants of Joined Trills in regarding to the previous host's families and assets, when they became joined Meridan also inherited access to Pol's estates, which he has had since his first host. It is a large estate out of the main city on Trill; it includes mountains and a large lake. Varshal's daughter Teisa lives there, and maintains the estates. After an unfortunate issue involving a messy romance with a fellow officer, she requested a transfer and was posted to the USS Scorpious as it's new Chief Starship Pilot.
