Personal History:
Eliza was born and bred in New York City, and grew up wanting nothing more than to teach kindergarten. She had no brothers or sisters, just her parents, several aunts and uncles, all living in a large, old fashioned brownstone on the upper eastside of the city. She never had time for boys--only her studies, her reading, and her writings..which included a dozen children's novels by the time she graduated from NYU. A friend of the family's, an Starfleet Admiral, gave Eliza the idea to venture out into space, to teach on Starfleet ships as so many families were now joining their far-from home parents. Her own parents abhorred the idea, but several of her uncles encouraged her...giving her ideas on all the new children's stories she could write, based on her experiences. They, too, felt Eliza could be of some use to children floating out into the darkness.
Personality:
A near-drowning at Coney Island when she was 15, has caused Eliza to stop swimming, once the only sport in her life she performed with a passion, though she still spends her free time along the water, finding peace there. She hopes to overcome that fear one day. Besides that, she has a damaging fear of heights...that can cause her to loose unconsciousness easily.
As for her likes: good music (of all types, races, backgrounds, planetary systems) interesting literature ballroom dancing cooking for friends and family and walks through any type of terrain, especially in the rain.
Education:
A graduate of NYU with a QPA of 3.4, she majored in Education with a minor in Social Work, having graduated in 2361. She received her Master's in Education in 2363 from Hunter's College, then spent the next 9 years teaching Kindergarten and First Grade in the NYC School System. During that time, she did volunteer social work, dealing with newly arrived aliens, helping them to acclimate to Terran society. Seven months ago, she handed in her transcripts to Starfleet Academy, attended a six month training course, was sent to DS9 and then transferred to her first command aboard the Scorpius.
