Greyish blue skinned, lithe, muscular, humanoids with trill like spots, all Dinitsians have black hair. Sylek Aureaus Terim has blue eyes and pronounced boney ridges in the place of eyebrows. The pattern on these ridges is genetically determined and helps distinguish between Dinitsian family groups.
Although Hermaphroditic, Dinitsians move between gender characteristics on an approximately two monthly cycle, which may be distinguished by the development of secondary sexual characteristics, an alteration in colouration patterning and the release of a dense cloud of pheromones.

All Dinitsians have pyrokinetic abilities and can lighten or darken their skin for camoflage against Karakticus's strongly blue tinged flora.Personal Strengths:

Although replaced in his/her diplomatic role by an ambassador, Terim still has a fair amount of politic clout with the Karaktican Government. Terim has some linguistic skills which greatly aided him/her in the Dinitsian/Federation first contact.Notable Weaknesses:
Although they may induce a sex change at any point, Dinitsians are obliged to change sex every 58 days. The process is draining and leaves the subject weakened for about 36 hours and usually very irritable for the surrounding couple of days.
Personality Profile:
Terim has a generally cheerful and pleasant disposition. He/she is well aware of the odd effects his/her gender situation can have on unprepared people and handles such situations with tact and grace.
Immediately after his/her sex change, Terim often finds some humanoids of the opposite sex find him/her unbelievably sexy. This effect usually passes and over time as people become immune to his/her pheromones but can cause much amusement when a new member of the crew comes aboard.General Background:
Terim was the first Dinitisian to make contact with the Federation while involved in a Dinitsian experiment in tavel through the Bajor Wormhole.
Terim spent some time acting as ambassador for the Dinitsian people, but now has stood aside for a trained diplomat and instead was asked by his/her government to join Starfleet. Terim accepted and started his/her first tour of duty aboard the USS Farseer.
However, with the onset of the Dominion war Karakticus has become under threat from the Dominion and requested protection from the Federation, so Terim was transfered to the USS Warspite where his/her knowledge of the Gamma quadrant was though to be potentially of great use.Service History:

Terim is Terim's given name. Sylek and Aureus are the names of Terim's Parents.
Dinitsians are a rare solitary people on their home planet. The purpose of their hermaphrodism and pheromone burst are to help them attract mates and then ensure that they are of the appropriate sex when they do arrive. The union between the two mates usually only lasts a month or so, but should it be sucessful, the couple stay together until the children are weaned.
Dinitsians live in extremely loose family groups and rely on the support of their family to assist in the raising of the child. It is the male party's duty to look after the child after it is born and the female usually moves on after changing sex. Marriage is not a common concept on Karakticus, but a pair of Dinitsians may mate many times together and form an informal pair-bond of sorts over time.
