Date of Birth: 6/10/2321

General Appearance: Stocky and sharp eyed. Sergei had brown hair but it's now mainly silver. Sergei walks with a straight back, making him look a few inches taller than he actually is. He has an aged and gaunt face which is just as likely to crease into a frown as a smile.

Specialist Skills:
Initially trained for security, Sergei was CSO aboard the USS Audacious. He was promoted to Captain and retrained for command at Star Fleet Academy after three tours of duty, Sergei is a model Starship Captain.

Personal Strengths:
With no less than five tours of duty behind him, Sergei has as much experience as you could hope for. He also has a talent for space combat which recommended him to this command.

Notable Weaknesses:
Sergei is not as young as he once was.

Personality Profile:
Being of Russian descent, Sergei is a deeply pragmatic and pessimistic soul - frequently to the extent of appearing uncaring. Starfleet recognised a talent for combat in him and as a result, his previous commands have had a lot of Police work to do. The USS Diablo was one of the very few ships to survive the nearly disasterous Borg incursion of 2372. She was also a veteran of Wolf 359, being disabled early in the battle and fortunate to survive only crippled.
With so much experience, Sergei is rarely rattled by anything anymore. In combat he exudes an aura of icy calm and confidence which tends to both reassure and unnerve his crew by turns. He has a reputation for being fearless, but this is certainly not true. One of Sergei's favourite quotes comes from an early 21st century Ridley Scott film, it goes, "Death smiles at us all, the best we can do is smile back."
Sergei has a few hobbies outside commanding starships. He enjoys fencing and playing the Cello. He is also an avid consumer of all sorts of novels. The subject matter rarely bothers him, it's the reading them that counts. He also enjoys living some of them out in the holodeck. As an extension of his love of literature, Sergei also tries to write novels. He has already published a few based on his adventures in Starfleet which sell fairly well on bookshelves in spaceports all over the Federation. He is currently writing his grand science fiction opus set in the distant future which questions deep philosophical issues on what it is to be sentient, but truth be known - he'll probably never finish it...

General Background:
Sergei is the very epitomy of the career Starfleet officer. He has sacrificed much for Starfleet having no family and little to offer asides from his skills as a commander. He was trained from the outset as security staff and and then recieved a promotion to captaincy, however he has only limited skills outside his fields.
His previous Command, the USS Diablo is an Ambassador class starship. She has been retired for a complete overhaul and refit - the redesign probably being applied to the rest of the class if successful. Sergei misses his old command. After ten years, so would you.
Between 2359 and 2362 Sergei went on a period of extended leave before returning to the academy for retraining as a commander. During this time, Sergei tried a number of pursuits in attempt to "find himself" such as rock climbing, glacier skiing and similar dangerous sports. The only thing he found was that he missed being in space. Go figure.

Service History:
2339-2344: Starfleet Academy
2344-2349: First Tour of Duty aboard USS Hubble
2349-2354: Second Tour of Duty aboard USS Audacious
2354-2359: Third Tour of Duty aboard USS Audacious
2359-2362: Extended Leave
2362-2363: Starfleet Academy
2363-2368: Fourth Tour of Duty commanding USS Diablo
2368-2373: Fifth Tour of Duty commanding USS Diablo
2373-Present: Sixth Tour of Duty commanding USS Warspite

Other Information:
Sergei is beginning to wonder if he is passed his prime. Certainly with five tours of duty behind him he is a good deal more seasoned than any captain has a right to be. However, without family or future outside Starfleet, Sergei keeps on ploughing on, racking up tour after tour. He'll probably die at the helm of a starship one way or another...
