Specialist Skills:
As Chief of Operations, Vek’sen works closely with Helm and Engineering. She is an excellent helmsman and prefers to fly the ship whenever duties allow. She has studied the Warspite inside out and her knowledge of its guts rivals that of the Chief of Engineering.Personal Strengths:
Strong willed, a consummate professional, Vek’sen is already familiar with the Captain after spending her last tour of duty under his command. As a result, she is sometimes able to second-guess the Captain’s decisions.Notable Weaknesses:
Although not anti-Romulan per se, Vek’sen has a strong hatred of the institute of the Romulan Star Empire whom she believes to be responsible for the death of her mother and regards as something akin to the despotic cold war view of the Soviet Union. Personality Profile:
Vek'sen presents a cold, aloof persona to the rest of the crew, but in truth she is a rather vunerable, childlike person who has suffered the scars of having to grow up too fast in a world where she was treated with suspicion. She is intensely loyal to those she trusts, but hasn't allowed herself to show anyone the otherside of her personality, yet.General Background:
Father: William Benz, a Two Star Admiral in Starfleet. Mother: Tai’lar Avrim, was a Romulan Diplomat who defected to the Federation in 2330. Her defection was a major coup for Starfleet intelligence on the Political and bureaucratic structure of the Romulan Star Empire. Tai’lar Avrim died in suspicious circumstances just before Christmas in 2346. Vek’sen firmly believes her mother was assassinated by the Romulan Star Empire as punishment for defection. Vek’sen was subsequently raised in the North American city of Montreal by her father.
Vek’sen joined Starfleet for three reasons. Firstly, as the daughter of an Admiral, she was brought up thinking and feeling Starfleet, she can conceive of no finer career. Additionally, feels she has an important legacy to live up to in the form of her father. Finally, it was the opinion of her father after the death of her mother that becoming an officer Starfleet was probably the only way that Vek’sen could guarantee her own safety from the Romulan Empire. Vek’sen has completed two full and one extended tour of duty already, aboard the USS Farseer and Morpheus she served as Helmsman and became skilled at the piloting of large ships. She was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant and given the position of Chief of Operations when she joined the USS Diablo. Her third pip has barely lost it’s shine as it was awarded just before the Diablo was taken out of service and she was moved to the Warspite.Service History:
