Galor Class Cruiser

The backbone of the Cardassian military fleet is made up of Galor class cruisers. The Galor was never designed to take on larger Federation or Klingon warships alone, however, the disruption to the Cardassian Naval building program has prevented them appearing in the numbers orginally envisaged. Therefore, the Galor has often been made to look inadequate compared to it's enemies. In truth it is a highly capable vessel offering considerable firepower and protection in a rugged, reliable, cost effective package. The Galor is a warship never to be underestimated, especally as Cardassian fleet doctrine dictates that these ships be used in packs of two or three.

The high power phaser bank is sited on the vessel's prow and is roughly comparable to Star Fleet's type IX phaser array. Although powerful, the installation has only a limited firing arc. The less powerful banks protect the rest of the ship and are of similar performance to the type VII array.
