The Notorious Prison of Chernokozovo

The notorious prison camp of Chernokozovo is located close to the town of Nadterchanya, not too far away from the Terek
River (North Chechnya, See Map). Since the start of the war in Chechnya, Chernokozovo has turned into a centre for the
systematic torture and murder of Muslim prisoners, the overwhelming majority of whom are civilians.

Mujahideen sources confirm that there are 700-800 Muslims incarcerated at Chernokozovo at any given time. No less than 100
of the prisoners are sisters. The Mujahideen have revealed details of how the Russian enemy tortures and murders our brothers
and sisters in this death camp. This report is not published in order to simply list facts, rather, it is meant to stir the souls of the
faithful that they may translate their sympathy towards Chechnya into concrete action.

“ The Russian criminals begin torturing their victims by sarcastically ordering the prisoners to make ablution and to pray to Allah
that He may save them from the torture that is about to befall them. This is followed by different methods of torture, the worst of
which includes pulling out finger nails, savage beatings using truncheons, and channeling electric shocks from under the tongues
of the victims.

Women and men are raped in front of other prisoners. One 13-year old sister from Urus Martan was repeatedly raped until her
death. The 50-year old mother of one of the Mujahideen was imprisoned, tortured and raped by Russian soldiers. She was
released, but has lost her ability to speak because of the severity of the torture she endured. Two men who were severely
tortured were sodomized with goblets shortly before there death. Despite this inhumane and barbaric treatment of the prisoners,
resistance remains strong; one of the prisoners, a member of the Mujahideen, was painfully tortured and ordered to say: ‘long
live Russia.’ He refused, and continued to say: ‘La illaha illa Allah (There is no god but Allah)."

These are but a few stories; there are many more, some of which are too horrible to describe. These crimes are being
committed in a systematic order, and they are not the work of a few individuals as the Russian Government falsely claims.

In view of such horrible crimes, we ask where are human rights organizations, why do they not put an end to the horror taking
place in such camps? In fact, where are the Muslims? What is their position? Why have they not condemned these centers of
death and torture??

The Russian Military failed to decide the conflict on the battlefield and has resorted to using the coward’s weapon of
imprisoning and torturing men, women and children of all ages; truly, the Russians are following in the footsteps of their Serb
brethren who flexed their muscles against the weak and the innocent, but who melted in the face of the Mujahideen.

OH MUSLIMS AROUND THE WORLD! Your brothers and sisters are being tortured and raped; after Allah Most Merciful,
whom do they have to support them other than yourselves? IF YOU DO NOT HELP THEM, NOBODY WILL. So-called
human rights organizations have failed to protect the rights of Chechnya’s Muslims; these organizations have not only ignored the
Chechens’ right to self-determination, they have also done nothing to protect the rights of the Chechens’ to life.

The inaction of the so-called international community is a result of power politics that rewards Russia and any other country that
seeks to massacre Muslims. However, when a conflict should involve worshipers of the cross, the ‘family of nations’ is quick to
demand the fulfillment of human rights and is willing to use force to do so. This was most evident in East Timor; Muslim
Indonesia was threatened with war and sanctions if it did not grant a tiny group of cross worshippers their independence.
Chechnya, on the other hand, will never receive such ‘even-handed’ treatment.

Brothers and sisters, how do you expect the enemy to halt its war of extermination against Chechnya when Muslims continue to
do business as usual with Russia? At the least, the Muslims should impose economic sanctions against Russia and demand that
the rights of the Chechens be fulfilled.

If the governments of Islamic countries fail to fulfill this responsibility, then we call upon Muslim businessmen to remember Allah
and to heed the call of their brothers in Chechnya by stopping any business they may have with Russia. We also call upon them
to support the Muslims of Chechnya personally, financially, and through supplication.
