April
4, 2000 My
fellow workers, I
honestly don’t know how to properly thank everyone who supported me in this
election. It’s such an incredible honor to receive your vote of confidence.
I can only hope that a big “THANK
YOU!” will suffice. This
victory belongs to all of us! I’m not just saying that, I really do mean it.
But remember, a shared victory means a shared responsibility. I pledge to do
my very best to strengthen and reinvigorate our Union, to make it more
inclusive and to help it better serve all of our members, but I’ll need
your help because it’s not going to be easy. We have a lot of work before
us, both within our Union and together with the Company. Today, however, I’m
more confident than ever that if we all join together and set ourselves to the
tasks at hand, we can be more successful then we’ve ever imagined possible. In
solidarity,
