Bonus manga epilogue: Zutto Isshoni

Translator comments: This is a text translation of the bonus epilogue of Wish that appeared only in the back of the Wish artbook. It contains a short manga story featuring Kohaku and Shuuichirou #2, and takes place two years after the final chapter of Wish volume 4. As with all script-style translations, it definitely helps if you read along with the actual book in hand. However, since this is not possible for everyone, Ifve tried to be as descriptive as possible with whatfs going on. Ifve also split up dialogue segments from the same character if they are found in different frames.

*Itfs a sunny morning at the Kudou residence. Shuuichirou works on his computer while listening to Kohaku singing and playing outside. The birds around Kohaku chirp happily.*
Kohaku (singing): =White white milk-san, if you let it sleep for a loooooogg time.......=
Kohaku (singing): =...it becomes cheese-san!=
Random Bird: Is that true?
Kohaku: =Thatfs my song about the different stuff milk can turn into.=

*Shuuichirou walks outside and Kohaku notices him.*
Random Bird: =Sing more of that weird song!=
Kohaku (to Shuuichirou): Good morning!
Shuuichirou: Morning.
*Kohaku flies down toward Shuuichirou, who is smiling. Already we can see how lighthearted he is compared to the old Shuuichirou.*
Narration: Kudou Shuuichirou is 18 this year. He is a senior in high school.

Narration: Hefs going to a college with a medical facility. His future goal is to someday become a doctor.
Kohaku: Today you have off after first period at school.
Shuuichirou: So you know that too.
*Kohaku smiles sweetly.*
Kohaku: I memorized your schedule!
Kohaku: If Ifm right, I should wait for you at the station.
Shuuichirou: Kohaku, what do you do when Ifm not around?
Kohaku: I clean up the house and the garden, I do the laundry...

Kohaku: I want to help Hisui-sama with the cooking, but I canft quite bring myself to do it yet...
*Kohaku looks down disappointedly, then clenches fists in determination.*
Kohaku: But! Just a little longer, and Ifll be able to make delicious food for you, Shuuichirou-san! Ifm trying my best!
Kohaku: =If I believe in myself, surely I can do it!=
Bird #1: =Try your best, Kohaku-chan!=
Bird #2: =Donft give up no matter how hard it gets!=
Bird #3: =Your faith in yourself will give you power!=
Shuuichirou: If you do it...
*Shuuichirou is cut off by maniacal laughter from off-panel.*
Kouryuu: Aaaaaahahahahahaha!
*Kouryuu (fullsize form), Ruri and Hari (cat forms) are standing above them on the branch of a tree. Kouryuu scoffs at Kohaku with his hands on his hips.*
Kouryuu: Even if you keep trying for hundreds of years. For you, cooking is impossible!

*Kohaku shouts up toward Kouryuu.*
Kohaku: Ifm practicing with all my might!
*Kouryuu jumps down from the tree.*
Kouryuu: No matter how hard you try, impossible things are still impossible!
Kohaku: Thatfs not true!
Kouryuu: Okay, then how about THIS!
*Kouryuu shoves a massive dead fish in Kohakufs face.*
Dead fish: =Salmon!=
*Kohaku takes one look at the fish and faints. The English word gWIN!h appears above Kouryuu.*
Shuuichirou: Kohakuuuuu!
*Shuuichirou tries his best to snap Kohaku out of it.*
Hari: Things havenft changed a bit. Kouryuu-sama still loves bullying Kohaku-chan.
Ruri: Yeah.
*Kouryuu puts his hands to his chest and closes his eyes with a contented look on his face.*
Kouryuu: Ahhhh. Ifm amazingly wonderful again today.

*Later on in the kitchen, Hisui has cooked Kouruyuufs fish and everyone is eating it for breakfast. As always, Kohaku is out of the house during the meal since s/he canft bear to look at dead things, including all food.*
Ruri: This fish is so delicious!
Hari: It really is! =yum yum=
Kouryuu: Of course it is, because I brought it!
*Kokuyou looks over at Kouryuu suspiciously.*
Kokuyou: What fish shop did you buy this from?
Kouryuu: I didnft buy it, I just took it.
*Kokuyou punches Kouryuu in the head. Kokuyou says something in scribbles about taking stuff but I dunno what it means. Shuuichirou puts his chopsticks down.*
Shuuichirou: Thanks for the food.
Hisui: Ifm glad you enjoyed it.

*Shuuichirou begins to walk out the door. Interesting note: Mick Nekoi forgot to draw Hisuifs earring in the next two panels. If you read Wish, you know the earring is a crucial item to Hisui & Kokuyoufs story so this is a pretty big blunder.*
Shuuichirou: Ifm going.
Hisui: Take care.
Shuuichirou: Um... I was going with Kohaku but...
*Time passes. Kohaku returns to the house. S/he lands next to Hisui.*
Kohaku: Where is Shuuichirou-san?
Hisui: He already left.
*Kohakufs head hangs down disappointedly.*
Kohaku: =I took too long hanging up the laundry to dry...=

*Hisui pats Kohakufs head.*
Hisui: Donft feel bad. You can wait for him to get back at the train station.
Kohaku: Okay.
*Hisui stares and smiles at Kohaku.*
Kohaku: Is there something on my face?
Hisui: =No.= Wefre going to have some nice sunshine today.
*Kohaku looks very confused.*
Kohaku: Hoe?

-The train station-
*Shuuichirou looks bored and lonely. A thin, flat object starts beeping inside his pocket and he reaches for it. He looks at the screen and his face lights up with elation.*
Kohaku: Shuuichirou-saaan!
*Kohaku comes running up to Shuuichirou.*

Kohaku: Welcome back!
Shuuichirou: Ifm back.
*Shuuichirou is still smiling.*
Kohaku: Did something good happen? =you look happy.=
*He holds the little electronic device out to Kohaku.*
Shuuichirou: I just received a reply.
Kohaku: What kind of reply?
Shuuichirou: My grandfather is a chairman of the college Ifm going to. Do you remember him?
*An image of Shuuichiroufs grandfather appears in the frame above Kohakufs head.*
Kohaku: Yes. =Hefs exactly like the old Shuuichiroufs grandfather.=
Kohaku: And he knows about me too. =Hefs an interesting guy, though I donft think he believes in what I really am.=

Shuuichirou: I heard back from him via email today.
Shuuichirou: He says youfve been admitted into my school.
*Kohaku looks stunned, then shocked.*
Kohaku: HOOOEEEEEEE!!??
Shuuichirou: The background checking, the paperwork, and proof of guardianship are were all completed courtesy of my grandfather, and he just replied to me telling saying it is now okay for you to enter the school.
Kohaku: But! But!
Shuuichirou: Hisui already said s/he would allow you to go. After all, youfll be able to study all sorts of things.
Shuuichrou: Could it be that you donft want to go to school with me?
*Kohakufs head shakes violently back and forth. Kohaku looks up at Shuuichirou.*

Kohaku: Thatfs not it! Ifm really, really, REALLY happy!
Kohaku: Wonft I be a hinderance to you?
Shuuichirou: You wonft hinder me at all.
Kohaku: Really truly?
Shuuichirou: Really truly.
*Shuuichirou embraces Kohaku and they kiss softly. I assume this is their first kiss by the sublime look on Kohakufs face.*
Shuuichirou: I want to be with you, even if itfs only for a short time. (1)
*Shuuichirou looks into Kohakufs eyes and they hug again.*
Kohaku: I will... (2)
Kohaku: I will be with you always...always...
Kohaku: Shuuichirou-san, if that is your wish...

Kohaku: ...then it is my wish as well.
*Time passes and the sun finally goes down. Kohaku suddenly reverts to chibi form while still in Shuuichiroufs arms.*
Kohaku: Aah! What will I do if I become small at school!?
Shuuichirou: ...first of all, I should definitely quit all school clubs. =They end at night.=
THE END!
1. Ifm guessing this is a reference to how the old Shuuichirou died so soon after realizing his love for Kohaku. It could also be a reference to how short a humanfs lifespan is compared to an angelfs.
2. Itfs not exactly clear which one of them is speaking here for anything above the point where Kohaku addresses Shuuichirou. The text bubble is floating equally above both with no little line pointing to either. I figured it was Kohaku since a proper form of a verb is being used and Shuuichirou usually speaks more casually. Either way, the same thing is being said.
