ASA Minutes for 9-25-03

 

I.  Welcome

II.  Icebreaker:

            Everyone said something good or bad that happened to him or her within the past

24 hours.

III.  Announcements:

            A.  ASA meetings will be held in the African American Culture in the TX

Union room for the remaining of the semester.

           

B.  The ASA Dance Team will be performing at Campus Fusion next Saturday

and we will also have food there; anyone interested in helping some of the members cook food for the event can contact Alicia at (832) 282-1830.

 

C.  The weekend of October 3-5th U of H is having their Banquet; you may contact Alicia if you’re interested in going.

 

D.  Pubbing:  call Erika at (832) 419-1903 if you’re interested in pubbing for Fest Africa and the ASA general meetings.

 

E.  Dance team has practice on Friday in Jester (on the first floor in the fireplace lounge) at 9:00 P.M.

 

F.  The forum during Fest Africa week will be held on Tuesday, October 14th from 7-9 P.M.  On Friday at 7:00 (in front of the Jester Smoothie place) Erika will be meeting with BSA to discuss some of the forum topics.  Anyone interested in helping out is welcome to come.

 

G.     SAAB:  come out and discuss opinions on topics “Behind Closed Doors” with SAAB at the CBA room 3.364

 

IV.  Culture Break:  “Is Nigeria independent or dependent upon the U.S.?”

 

V.  Those with birthdays in June, July, August or September were recognized and

everyone had cake.

 

(The remainder of the meeting was spent in committee groups to discuss Fest Africa.)

 

FEST AFRICA October 12-17th

 

Sunday:  Church Service at Redeemed Church

 

Tuesday:  Forum on African and African-Amer. Issues; co-sponsored with BSA.  The forum will be held from 7-9 P.M.

 

Thursday:  Brief meeting from 6-6:15; then we will all go to the Afia Restaurant as a group

 

Friday:  FEST AFRICA
