It
is common to see depressed and stressed out people in this busy world today. The
number of people suffering from mental illness is increasing drastically day by
day. It is also very normal to hear or read about amok cases nowadays.
All this mental-related cases occur because of stress or frustration caused by
various problems such as financial difficulties, high workload, exam tensions or
even social or relationship problems and these problems can affect the mind
greatly. Other causes of these problems are high competition, high expectations
and too many desires.
Although techniques such as listening to music, dancing, exercise or even
chatting with friends are good habits which can help to relax the mind, the best
method recommended by psychologists, psychiatrists and successful figures is
meditation.
Meditation is a technique, which is based on mind focusing and concentration.
Meditation is done by setting a period of time every day to quieten the mind.
If sleep is for physical relaxation, meditation is for mind relaxation.
Meditation can reduce tension and can stabilise our minds. Besides that,
meditation can also lower our blood pressure, reduce anxiety, decrease stress
and so on. It is always better to practise meditation with the guidance of a
Master or Guru.
