These are the activities that we have done throughout the year.
ALD Induction Ceremony
New members will be inducted in a special ceremony to be held on March 7 at 4 PM in the University Ballroom. This will be the time to purchase our new ALD T-shirt for only $9. Also, we ask new inductees and current members going to the ceremony to please bring two canned food items with them. These items will be given to the RGV Food Bank.
ALD New Officer Elections!
Interested in becoming an officer in UTPA's only freshman honor society? Well, you're in luck. ALD will be having Officer Elections March 10th at 12 PM in UC 307. Be sure to know what position you will want and good luck to all interested parties
.HESTEC Community Day
ALD participated in HESTEC Community Day, September 27th, to raise scholarship funds for its members. From Popsicle sales, ALD was able to raise around $300, which will be used to fund THREE $100 Textbook Scholarships, courtesy of Alpha Lambda Delta.
Green Living Festival
Educating the community of Edinburg, ALD members volunteered at the 2008 Green Living Festival, an event designed to teach community residents about the positive effects of living an eco-friendly life.
Carnival of the Great Pumpkin
Ghosts, goblins and monsters! Oh my! ALD assisted the University Program Board with their annual Carnival of the Great Pumpkin fair on November 1st at UTPA. Members were able to help children find their way around the carnival and even helped to set up the Haunted House.
HEB Feast of Sharing
Thanksgiving is a time to gather everyone around the dinner table. ALD members served an early Thanksgiving dinner to over a hundred Valley residents at the annual HEB Feast of Sharing event at the new McAllen Convention Center. There was much to be thankful for.
Adopt-An-Angel
The holiday season is a time for giving, and this holiday season, ALD gave children the gift of learning. ALD handed out books and held "Magic Carpet Reading Sessions" for local Valley children at the annual Adopt-An-Angel gift giveaway, hosted by the Office of Student Life and Transition Services, on Sunday, December 14th at HPE II.
ALD New Inductees Notice
Freshman who qualify for Alpha Lambda Delta will be sent an official invitation by late December - early January. Remember to keep up a 3.5 GPA for the semester to qualify. We hope to see you soon.
ALD Informational Meeting
There will be an information session for interested Freshman wanting to be part of ALD. Time and location to be announced.
