The Past Experience .............
P.K. Muduli It is our pleasure to write such an
article for the web page of the group of uuphy2000. We consider our batch as
one of the successful batch in the history of Utkal University and department
of Physics. Many student of our batch choose, Physics (especially research)
as their career. The biggest strength of ours was in the friendly
co-operation among ourselves. The story drives us back to the year, 1998,
when we build the team at place called Vanivihar, Bhubaneswar, the capital of
the state of Orissa, India. Beginning inspiration that drives us to wards
Physics and the department spirit came from Prof. Nirajan Barik, right from
his first class on Quantum Mechanics. Prof. N. Barik is commonly known as
Barik sir in the department. He is famous through out Orissa for his
Book on 10 +2(intermediate) Physics. We
learn not only Physics from him but also some great moral values as a part of
education. Prof. Barik has truly inspired lot of his students for Physics.
Officially Prof. L.P. Singh and Dr. K. Maharana had not taken any classes in
our first year, but each of them help us to get introduced to the department
by taking an introductory lecture. This is more like a tradition in the
department that the teachers helps new students to get included in the
society of Physics department in their introductory classes.
Coming to wards our point of view, those were the days of beginning in
Vanivihar. We were feeling proud to get a chance to study in Utkal
University. Though Vanivihar was not that great as we expected, but there was
something special there. Many of us got 1st Hostel, for accommodation.
1st Hostel was not in a good condition during those days. There was a messing
with foods of traditional hostel type. But because many of us had a Village
background, we had started cooking in hostel. "Bhata- Dalma-Bhaja"
was the famous item that we were frequently cooking. In these days we were
not know to each other. But as time passes, we started interacting and friendship
develops. |
