"Don't
think Nancy forgets you
she
often says 'I wish I didn't come to this old place'
and
'Wish I was back with Daddy and Aunties'
and
'Why didn't I bring the [toilet]?'
but
she will never lose the tone."
My dear Hub Your welcome letter answering No. 12 read this morning written I should have got it last Friday. Anna's came to Mother mailed June 7th. Well I hope you are escaping the heat as well as possible. I read in the Examiner where it was 85 in the shade June 11th. Three dead and 100 prostrated. Well how did you pass off the night of the 17th or did you get your drop of scotch? I laid awake as the cuckoo struck two and I thought of you. All I know you people had not gone to bed yet. I read and reread your letter and about Body and Charlie. I laughed enough. Don't give any of them any information but say I am having a fine time. I don't think, we are almost frozen these days past and especially the [evening] of the 17th. I am making Nancy a pair of baizs bloomers to day so you can picture it is cool T. G. they are keeping so well. I went to a B. [probably British] dentist in Millstreet on Friday 5s to write out a prescription for a mouth wash. Some shoe maker I would wait until I go to Cork but know I won't have much time I expect to go Thursday. So you had the honor of Sullivan speaking to you. I will mail some cards this week. Tell Anna I also [received] her letter this morning and will write her by next mail. Don't think Nancy forgets you she often says I wish I didn't come to this old place and wish I was back with Daddy and Aunties and why didn't I bring the [toilet] but she will never lose the tone. Sheila is like a tub keeps so nice and fat. Well I think I have given you all the news for the present time. Many thanks for writing me twice a week it is very cheerful to look forward to them. Is Mike puffing these days? Tell him there are good jobs going now in the I.R.A. Will close with best love from us three. Your loving wife,
xxx Nancy
My Dear Hub I just now received your letter of June 9th with enclosed 2£. You missed the mail as it only left Edgewater June 10th 6.30 a.m. Perhaps you know it was so as you mentioned you were just going off. However, it was only a few days late. I must thank you again for being so good to me and sending me so much money. You say you are sending on another twenty Pounds. If so I will buy the pony and trap. Altho [sic] I had the thought out of my head of doing so being that I have spend so much already and I must say my poor Mother is not imposing on me she would give me all she has but you know there is no industry in a cottage. However I am very happy that the children are keeping so well and that means everything. Sheila is the life of the house and says everything you tell her and mimics the rooster and donkey, etc. I was to go to Cork yesterday but the morning was so cold. I stayed under the comforter and it is none too warm for it those days. I guess you have it warm enough over so the park is in full swing. I read an answer from the gramophone [sic] firm. They will secure the machine for a small amount and pay up at my own convenience so no reduction for cash and 12 records with it. So I think I will send for it as it is so quiet around here. No more, will write you again for Tuesday mail. Love and kisses from us three,
ever your loving wife,
xxx Nancy
