2000 National Forum Big Hit With the Florida Delegation
The National Convention at Norman Oklahoma was a blast. If you didn't attend this summer, start packing your bags for the 2001 convention at Tulane University. Hopefully the convention will be better than the long survivor video Louisiana conjured up.
Florida showed the other states that she didn't play around in Certamen, with the Florida novice, lower, and upper level teams placing first. Floridians were not only Certamen scholars but hyper-active cheerleaders, bringing in the large state spirit award on Mardi-Gra Madness. Perhaps the greatest change from past Nationals was the evening fellowships. President "Special Ed" Atkinson turned usually droll meetings into a show worthy of prime time television. Delegates could also compete in the brand spankin new Impromptu Art contest, in which participants were given supplies and forty five minutes to create a work of art. Sure there were complaints about early testing sessions and tedious ceremonies but those minor mishaps couldn't drag down such a great convention. Every true blooded FJCLer must attend the 2001 convention at Tulane University in New Orleans (Naw Lens) Louisiana.

Did You Eat My Pizza?

Reminiscing about the 2000 NJCL Convention
conjures up fond memories for me. I remember when I got 43 out
of the possible 100 points for my dramatic interpretation. I remember
when I tied for 42nd place for grammar because I didn't feel like
trying to translate the passages at the end. I remember when I
slept through the farewell general assembly and woke up to Chris
Olry sobbing. The soft water and bad food especially made my JCL
experience the best I've ever had in my one year history with
the Junior Classical League. But what I will always remember is
that on the Friday before convention ended, I got pizza. And it
was no ordinary pizza, it was a cheese pizza with extra garlic
sauce for optimum dippage. But I fell asleep before the pizza
got there and when I woke up on Saturday morning my pizza was
on the ground with two slices missing. I had a dream about eating
pizza, but I believe that to be unrelated. So, what I'm asking,
is if you have seen my two missing slices of Papa John's Pizza,
please return it to me, c/o Gainesville High School, ASAP. Thank

truely say as an FJCLer I have never seen such a group of charismatic

I'm Carinne Cuculich and I'm a junior at Academy of the Holy Names
in Tampa. I am lucky enough to serve you this year as Parliamentarian.
The Officers just finished our planning meeting at the Radisson,
and I'm really excited about State! Being back at the hotel just
reminded me of how much fun we've had there before. We went through
your evaluations and planned some changes and new events. But
I don't want to spoil any surprises, so I'll leave it at that.

Howdy FJCLer's!!
I want to strongly convey my appreciation for everyone's help
to win the spirit prize at nationals. When campaigning, I promised
we would win and, with about 150 of us from Florida, WE DID! Some
may say that since we were the second largest state there, it
was easy. But it took alot of hardwork and dedication from the
other officers, myself, and all of you that went. It wasnt easy
making 150 Mardi Gras masks. I am so greatful to have such an
awesome group of officers. We have been working hard on brainstorming
for your upcoming state convention. I hope everybody enjoys what
we've got up our sleeves. I look forward to seeing everybody in
Orlando and when you see me, Holla' at me!
