The Application Process

1.  Fill out the application form completely.

You may request application forms from the Faculty of Humanities and Education (FHE) Outreach Office via email at libarts@carib-link.net or libartsoutreach@fhe.uwi.tt.

2.  Attach a passport picture.

Please attach a recent passport sized photograph to your application.  

3.  Attach a copy of your passport.

Please include a copy of the page of your passport that includes your name, photograph, date of birth, nationality and other relevant information.    

4.  Submit copies of all certificates and diplomas relevant to your study of English.

Please submit copies of all certificates and diplomas earned from any institution where you have received English language tuition.  If you are enrolled in an English course at the time of applying to the University of the West Indies, please request a letter from your institution verifying your enrollment and level.

5.  Submit the completed application and application fee to the Faculty of Humanities and Education (FHE) Outreach Office.

Your application will not be processed unless the FHE Outreach Office has received your completed application, all support documents and the non-refundable US$100 application fee (EFFECTIVE July 1st 2003).

All fees (application fee, tuition deposit, etc.) are payable by:

1.       International US draft or cheque payable to: “The University of the West Indies.”

2.       Cash (if paid in person)

3.       Credit card (if transaction is done in person)

4.       Wire transfer  (Please contact the FHE Outreach Office for further details if you are interested in this payment option at libarts@carib-link.net or libartsoutreach@fhe.uwi.tt)

After the Application Process

  

  1. Conditional Letters of Acceptance

Once you have been accepted into the EFL Programme, you will receive a conditional letter of acceptance.  This letter is NOT be used for immigration purposes. 

  1. Advance Deposit

If you choose to study at the University of the West Indies, an advance deposit of US$200 is required.   

  1. Letters of Immigration

Letters of immigration which can be used to support the student’s application for a student visa will only be issued upon payment of the deposit.   

  1. Refund of Deposit

The deposit is refundable only if written notification of withdrawal from the course is received before the starting date of the course.  All letters must be addressed to the EFL Coordinator.  

  1. English Language Placement Test

1.  Students will be asked to complete an English Pre-Evaluation Test before their arrival.  

2.  All students are required to take the official English Language Placement test at least one week before the course starts.  Please make an appointment to be tested.

  1. Deadline for Payment of Fees

Please note that payment of all fees is due by the first day of class.  Penalties will be applied to late payments received.
