CREWGUARD
The
MWR121 Crewguard receiver is a man Over Board warning alarm, incorporating
microprocessor technology. Power is 12 - 24V and the unit is dust proof / splash
proof. The Crewguard receives transmissions on the 121.5MHz frequency and has
the intelligence to analyse and recognise a typical signal from an EPIRB and
then give a very loud warning alarm. This intelligent facility could also help
reduce false alerts caused by aircraft pilots occasionally talking on 121.5MHz
for example.
The
Crewguard also incorporates a second receiving channel, a test channel, on
121.65MHz for trials, training or testing.
A
signal strength indicator has been built in to give a general indication of
distance from the Crewguard to the EPIRB worn by the Man Over Board.
The
Crewguard can be connected to a suitable GPS system to give a waypoint of an MOB
or to an Auto helm to cause the boat to go hard over for example or could even
be used to cause engine shut down. This ability is especially reassuring when
sailing single-handed or the duty watch is a single person.
Provision
is made for connection to an extension speaker, which could be positioned in a
cabin, or sleeping quarters to give extra peace of mind.
The
Crewguard's antenna has a basic BNC connector that can either be extended or
replaced by the user.

MDF 202 Direction Finder The
MDF 202 Direction Finder is a highly capably piece of equipment. The MDF202 is
protected to IP67 and incorporates 2 channels.
Receiving
signals on 121.5MHz, the world wide emergency distress homing frequency or on
the second channel of 121.65MHz which could be used for trials, testing or
training without causing an alert.
Outputs
from the MDF202 enable it to be linked to GPS, on board PC's, PA/Loud Speaker
system.
In
a multiple MOB situation the MDF 202 Crewfinder is capable of coping with
multiple transmissions by homing to one signal at a time.
Power
is 12V - 24V
Again
simple is best. The Crewfinder display is very easy to use and simple to follow.
On the display there are 36 LED's arranged in a circle / clock-face fashion. In
the event of an MOB wearing an EPIRB, the MDF 202 antenna receives the emergency
signal and shows the position on the Crewfinders clock face in relation to the
ships heading. A signal strength indicator is also built in to show when the
source of the transmission is near.
To
ensure an accurate reading is given, the Crewfinder's antenna is continually
averaging the signal direction received resulting in a steady direction
indication even when the signal is temporarily lost, perhaps caused by wave
action.
Should
the signal be lost from the EPIRB for a longer period then the Crewfinder is
capable of recalling the last position on the display.
Examples
of installations of the MDF 202 include larger yachts\cruisers, Survey vessels,
Fast Response Craft, Oil Industry Support Craft, Pilot and Customs launches.
The
Crewfinder is simple to install with a single standard 9 core multiway cable
with 'D' plugs and sockets (supplied) connecting the antenna with the display.
Extra lengths of antenna cable are available by special order. The Crewfinder is
supplied complete with Display, Antenna, Cable, Power Cable and Active Antenna.
