So finally its over , three days of total enjoyment and fun , not to mention the thrill of getting to know that gals of our class also speak. Only some of the very few opportunities KE has to provide to enjoy and witness the good things that life has to offer besides being wrapped up in miseries of studies. These 3 days are a source of relief from the endless , monotonous college routine , not to mention the pharma and forensic tests , and still ward tests , for thetas only!…I might b sounding to some as being over enthusiastic about these days , but this is the way I feel. And what amazes me the most is tht people still find reasons not to participate in these activities! I mean c’mon guys we are all here to become doctors right!! but we are suppose to have a life too!
Anyway it began with the funfair; first of all we heard that it wasn’t suppose to take place due to war in Iraq. Now whether the decision to cancel the funfair to show solidarity to Iraqi people was right or not , I don’t wana get into this debate. Every body had his own word to say abt the issue but the important thing for many was that it was gonna take place and I dint find many people who dint attend the funfair to show solidarity with Iraqi people , so make whatever you would out of that. But what really sounded odd to me was the way they handled the whole event saying that, we were gonna have the funfair before the war broke out but now since war has broken out in Iraq so we are still having funfair but now we will send all the money generated through this event ( as if it were in millions of dollars ) to Iraqi people. There was one other change they made in the wake of the war that there will be no music or dances this year which are an essential part of the KE funfair. However when the show started there was music alright but no no this stall was dedicated for the Iraqi people. “Music brings people together “ was the caption written on the banner of this music dedication stall, too bad most people didn’t know this coz if this is so I think we should play Micheal Jackson’s “ heal the world” in Iraqi border it might bring US and Iraq together. The music dedication began with “Ae khuda” by Adnan sami and ended on “Nach Punjaban” by Abrar. It reminded me of the way FM starts its transmission after a prayer , first there is Hamd and a Naat , then there are 2- 3 qawali’s followed by a couple of patriotic songs and then begins the normal program. I just think they made a mess of the whole thing but these are only my views you might think otherwise.
For better or worse the show did go on. As always there were many usual stalls like flowers dedication , irritators , mehndi , rakhi etc. Flower dedication was not much a hit this time as in the end when all the other stalls were closed these guys were still moving around and tht too in bulk and since they were the only ones amongst the stalls who were doing so it gave an impression as if the were making last ditch efforts. Inside sources say tht these guys were left with so much flowers that they started giving flowers to their own stall fellows , but the news is still controversial so I cant really comment on tht.
Rakhi is one stall that boys fear of the most in the funfair , and for many reason I don’t understand gals are really fond of sending rakhis to boys. I mean tying a rakhi doesn’t really make you brother of a gal…………..or does it?? The special thing about the rakhi stall was that it was organized by the gals of our class. Sources tell us that this group of gals was organized by none other than Amna Muhammad. Yup folks the same gal who’s the lady asst secretary of all the sports that are played in our college , sports like football , basketball and this may soon include weight lifting. So great going amna. Another of our class stall included “Sajan Behrupia”. A remake of the original “Kings and Queens” it had the same fervor as last time but with a different touch. This stall was organized by our very own GR and her friends. The boys of this stall included Afzal bajwa , the great OSAMA!!!and others. One of the different stalls this time was “Marriage bureau”. The theme of this stall was about getting people married!! ,not in the literary sense ofcourse!! Now if I write anything about it then you’d say that I was self flattering , so I wont say much. Just that we had a lot of fun making pairs of our class right from the start when we made roll no 108 the bride and jonty 156 the bridegroom till the end when we made the pair of Qazi 112 and Zainab 174. I would add one thing over here that what we did might not have amused many and we did come across people who did mind this , but I’d like them to know that what ever we did it was all in good faith , every body comes to the funfair to enjoy and so did we and there are somethings that seem odd otherwise but are considered enjoyment on funfair and this was a part of that enjoyment.
Next was the color day. The color of our class was orange. Deciding the color is fun too , everybody has a favorite color and a shirt or dress to match with , so everybody’s trying to get the color of his / her favourtie shirt so that they wont have to spend money on buyin a new shirt. Out of the many ideas that were being discussed one was really weird , it was “Transparent” and it was proposed by our none other than Salman bodla , now if ur wondering who he is then don’t b surprised , I dint even know that Charlie’s real name was salman. Well Charilie I think you should stick to studies only, cause it just goes to show that when it comes to chosing a color ur mind is as “Transparent” as a crystal. Anyway color day began with everybody getting into our designed camps and then standing in a row infront of the chief guest. I couldn’t help but remember our very first color day. Two years have passed in this college and hopefully only 2 more color days to attend in this college. Participation from the guys was very poor this year and most of them present were not wearing orange. Gals on the other hand were all dressed beautifully in orange and probably thts the reason we eventually won the best color award. There were many sports played and our class performance was much better than previous years, a lot of which is due to my very dear friend Ali Salman who really runs like a cheeta. He kept on coming on the stage for God knows how many times and in the end his neck was filled with medals. Gals also did great this year , but the most interesting thing took place in the end when there was a tug of war between boys n gals of our class. This was a new thing introduced this year. At first it dint seem fair…boys against the gals, and that too in a tug of war…what are you kidding me!!!…I remember I told my friends not to pull very hard in the beginning and hold the rope so that the match doesn’t end very soon, after all we had to win so why right away. On the contrary when the match did start we were all swept away. I couldn’t believe it in the beginning, we were losing to gals but it was happening , inch by inch the rope was slipping from the hand of the boys and we were being pulled towards the center. Seeing our plight guys from 2nd yr and 4th yr also came to help and what seemed an easy victory was becoming a stiff target. Alas!the tornado of Girl Power swept the boys out of their feet and we lost!!!! Never mind boys we were just being courteous to them , we’ll see who wins next year!!!!
What happened on theme day , I will discuss that in my next article coz I think this has become a long one and u must be yawning by now…
So take care all , do remember me in your prayers
