How to Form for XP or EQ
Back to Vengeance Library

THE LEADER
Always listen to your Leader, they are the ones who decide when everyone takes a break, or keeps on goin...
or if you are in a special zone like Combs or Demonforge, they are going to be giving you vital info on things
like when to flee, teleport, sit(in combs), etc... and it will be what makes the difference between a good form and a bad form.
The Leader will usually designate a couple of positions within a form if they aren't taking care of it themselves...
BS'er (usually the Leader cause they know when they're moving)
Looter (loots all corpses and sac's them...gives keys to leader)
Healers (Usually done by Columns (Left/Center/Right) if large form)
Orb's (Put on one person so multiple Orbs aren't used at one time)
Spells (When you have multiple Casters, Spells can be designated...)
(...Example: Joe-Shield Room, Bill-Plague, Jim-Dispell)
Watcher (Person who watches for PK'ers on where & who -z, and/or weather)

INITIATING COMBAT
Typically Combat will be started by a Designated Person in a form.
This will almost always be done in a way that is blatant if you have
Combat Brief on, like a Backstab, Bash, Trip, or a spell being cast.
This is done so everyone in the form can know that combat has started and can
Assist the combat Initiator as quickly as possible.

ASSISTING
There has been a command added recently called AUTOASSIST... Turn this on, and you will always auto-join combat when it starts.

TARGETING
Once you are in Combat, most Spells and Skills will target the Mob you are fighting,
so you can just type "kick" or "c harm" or "c magic missile" without a mob-name and they will all hit the Mob anyway...
So DON'T target your spells, etc. That way, when another non-Agg mob walks in room, you are not initiating comb at
with the new mob till you are ready to. (Faerie Fire, Curse, Plague, and a few other must always be tageted)

FRONT ROW
You're goin to take a lot of beatings, so you should have at least a -100ac, a decent of HP's,
and spend most of your time Bash/Tripping the mobs in front of you or casting attack spells.
Its better to Bash/Charge/Trip mobs if there is more than one person in the Front Row of the form,
because then everyone does bonus damage for the mob being sprawled on the ground (x1.5 I think)
and they are easier to hit when down.

In Aggresive zones, keep all your protections up at all times, and Sanc goin unless the room is
shielded or Form is taking a break. Also, do not worry if you get blinded, just stand there and take
the beating till the fight is over, most likely the people behind you would not like it if you fled so you
could unblind yourself. Don't forget, if you've been a cleric, you need to make sure to heal your healer
if they get wounded, instead of letting them heal themselves. That way they save mana to heal you later.

MIDDLE ROW
This is usually where the Offensive Spellcasters and lower stat Tanks are placed.
You can deal out hand to hand damage from here, but you loose aprox 10hr if you're in the
Middle Row without a "Long" weapon. Often, the main BS'er will be put here so they can up their
HR/DR more without getting slammed by the mobs after the fight starts. It should be obvious what
the Offensive Spellcasters are supposed to be doing... Mostly casting Attack spells, or a few
Prep spells like Plague, Dispell, etc.

BACK ROW
This row usually contains the Defensive Spellcasters or people with ranged weapons (Thrown/Long/etc).
The main job of the Defensive Spellcasters is to make sure that everyone in the Column in front of them
(left/center/right) is kept healed, or to cross-heal the other healers in back row. Defensive
Spellcasters also help prep Mobs for combat with Faerie Fire spells, and Dispells when combat starts.
In NPK or CPK, the Back Row is likely to have the 2nd Tanks in it to absorb BS's from players
targeting the form. Especially if the Back Row people have Fireshield, and/or Manashield...

GENERAL INFO
Pay attention to what is goin on.
Don't Initiate Combat unless asked to.
Don't Target Spells, Assist into Combat!
Don't wander away from the Form and explore on your own.
(If you want to Learn the Zone, ask to be Leader'd...)
(...depending on location, a lot of leaders will Leader you)
(...and then teach you the sections that they know)
Don't cast Area spells unless Leader has ok'd it for that area.
(Area Spells: Tremor, Firestorm, Chain Lightning, Acid Storm)
(Area Items: Rods of Lightning, Oak Staff's, any other "staff")
Don't go AFK without making sure the Leader specifically knows.
Try not to Loose Link and Whisk, a lot of Forms won't wait for you.
Don't complain about EQ not getting split, it usually gets split ...when the run is over so that the split is even.
Don't complain about not being taken on Sneak-only runs if you have ...never been a Thief,
non-sneakers make some zones next to imposible.
Don't Loot unless asked, especially on EQ runs where the Equipment is ...worth EQ points for Clan-Rank.
(Most Leaders will abandon you on the spot if you do)
