The 2003 Dinner Dance
March 8, 2003

The dinner dance this year was hosted by Crew 78, and it was at the St. Dominic's Parish hall. This is the third year we have done this, and I think it was the best. Three crews attended this event, Crew 78 from Benicia, Crew 222 from Vallejo, and Crew 799 from Morgan Hill.

Members from both Crew 78 and 222 arrived at the parish hall at 11 AM to begin set up for the dance. Set up entailed moving out all the stuff that was in the hall and decorating. Our decorating coordinator was Jessica who did an excellent job with making the hall look fantastic.

For food, we decided to do a pot luck style meal. Each crew was given a food group to bring. Crew 222 supplied starches, etc, Crew 78 supplied vegetables, and Crew 799 supplied dessert. The main course was paid for by all the crew members and cooked by adults from crew 78 and consisted of chicken and steak. Hours devours were paid for by everyone attending, and cooked by members of crew 78. Matt was in charge of the food, and he did a good job picking out food that was both edible and delicious.

The arrival for the dance started at 6:00, and dinner was served at 7:00. Dinner was really good. After dinner, the live swing band got set up and started playing. Their music was really good, and thanks to the swing lessons our crew had been given we were able to dance the night away.

Everyone had a really good time, in all we had 50 youth there. This event not only allowed us to get dressed up and practice our good manners, but it allowed us to meet members from other crews and have an enjoyable night with them.
