Laughter

by Mako

Comments: Ah! the last part! It's very short, gomen. Um, well, the order of the story is: 'Pain', 'Desire', 'Confusion', 'Calm', and, finally, 'Laughter'. All of them are very corny names, yes? And the overall title is even cornier (is that a word?) ready? It's 'Pieces of me Love'. Stupid, ne? Oh, well. Comments and Critique very much appreciated.
Hope you like it. ^^

It still surprises me sometimes when I wake up to find you next to me. I still don't know why you stay, but, hey, I'm not complaining.

I roll over and look at you. You've just woken up, your orange hair tousled and your eyes a little bleary.

I'd thought for sure, that day by your car, that your kissing me had been a mistake. I'll have you know that kiss haunted me for days. You wouldn't even look at me anymore. No more little half-smiles, no more of your reckless teasing. I think I missed you the most during those days because even when you teased me mercilessly, when you hated me, I at least knew that you were there.

But when you started avoiding me, when your eyes began to bruise from lack of sleep. I felt like I had lost you. You were like a ghost. It hurt, but I thought that you couldn't sleep because of your disgust of me, so I tried as best as I could to make you stop noticing me. I tried to ignore you, make you forget, because the bags under your eyes, each wrong note, they hurt me.

I never thought that I could have you, never in my life. But I did. For the second I held you in our crushing kiss. For that second, I had you. But, I didn't hold you tight enough and you ran away. Having you, even if it was just for that one second was so much worse than never having you at all. Because I had tasted you, I had felt you.

It's strange, you asked me once if I could feel you. I reached out, touched you and answered, "Of course". You frowned, your pouty lips bunching up, and asked me again. Could I _feel_ you. I understood you then. That strange feeling when you're near me. The way I can feel every bit of you. And so I told you yes. I've felt you from the moment we met. It used to bother me, but I guess I got used to it, I just categorized it as a part of you. You looked so happy when I told you that, and when you looked at me, your dark eyes shining... It's a feeling I can't express.

It's the feeling I always get when I'm with you, the sudden gush of warmth. I guess I felt it most strongly that night. Do you remember? That night I held you in my arms, the night you kissed me again and told me that you loved me.

Anyway, you're looking at me funny now, I guess I must have been staring off in to space, remembering.

Seeing that you've caught my attention, you announce to me your latest dream. I don't understand why you get so excited when you have a dream, why you stay and wait until I've finally woken up just to tell me. But I don't mind. Just watching you, that's enough.

Your eyes light up as you tell me your dream, hands flying, trying to portray the flying monkeys and the singing cupcakes. How you can be so energetic right when you've just woken up is beyond me; you're just one big energy ball. I watch you for a moment, basking in the sound of your voice, memorizing your face. Ah, kawaii ne... I must have smiled a little or looked at you in that way you say I sometimes do, because your words slow and your hands stop their flying when you see me. Your eyes soften.

It's funny, we're opposites, ne? You're the fiery, passionate one. I'm cold, distant, aloof. You're the cute kawaii boy, I'm the, I suppose, elegant, pretty one. Even physically; my skin is darker than yours. It's strange, the contrast, my dark fingers against your pale cheek. Even the color of our hair is opposite, yours orange, mine blue.

Actually, when I think about it, the only thing we have in common are our eyes. When I'm not wearing my strangely colored contacts, they're brown, like yours. Almost the same shade.

I smile looking into your eyes, because in them, I can see myself. You look at me and grin, seeing my smile. And you lean down, your eyes gazing into mine as our lips brush.

    And we laugh.
