At the end of June and first week of July we went to Kume Island in Okinawa, Japan. We had perfect weather while we were there. As always when we go to Okinawa, we rented bicycles and rode around the Island. It is about 40 km around the Island. We could easily ride all the way around the Island, but there are so many mountains on Kume Island that make the bicycle riding a little strenuous. We spent most of our time swimming and snorkeling in the Ocean. The ocean was nice and clear. Unfortunately there are not many nice sandy beaches on Kume Island, so we had to enter the ocean by climbing over old coral rocks. They were very sharp and difficult to walk on so we had to be very careful. While we were snorkeling we saw many sea snakes. We saw three different kinds. They say that sea snake are poisonness and that one snake has enough poison to kill 50 people, but sea snakes are supposed to be very timid and scared of people so there have been very few reported snake bites by sea snakes. But, even knowing that, it made our hearts race very fast when ever we saw one swimming our direction. We also saw many clown fish, which are now becoming very popular because of the new Disney movie 'Finding Nemo'. They are very cute fish. We also saw several Lion fish, which are also poisonness. And we saw a many other kinds of fish.
