Notes: In this page, I attempt to present a list of people associated with Bertolt Brecht throughout his life. As a human being and a prominent writer, Brecht has absorbed an enormous amount of inspiration from the human resources that was available to him. I would like to emphasize this point, though. Many people here have contributed not only in a professional capacity, but were also PERSONAL FRIENDS of Bertolt Brecht. They share their life stories, philosophy and world views. There, of course, are also people who are linked to Brecht merely on a professional level.
This list includes people who had worked with Brecht on several projects or for a longer period of time. I have excluded people from the dramaturgical team of the Piscator theatre companies, the Hollywood film industry and the left-wing writers in American theatre, communist party functionaries from the 1930's, members of the Academy of Culture in East Berlin, and government officials of German Democratic Republic (GDR).
Names in bold face are named "Mitarbeiter" in specific works.
BE: Berliner Ensemble.
