Christ, where do I begin in a rebuttal of this site? The name itself gives the impression that the creator is incredibly immature. I suppose I'll start with the warning:
"TOOL LYRICS ARE DISTURBING, VIOLENT, AND GRAPHIC."
Personally, I don't find any of TOOL's lyrics distubing or graphic. I can see how you could find them violent if you look at them in a right wing censorship Nazi sort of way, though.
"CHILDREN WHO LISTEN TO THESE LYRICS MAY EXPERIENCE DEPRESSION, ANGER, FEAR, DISSOCIATION, AND DEVELOP INNATTENTION AND TRANCING OUT AS A HABIT."
Yeah, I heard about that. I believe that most people refer to it as puberty, though. All teenagers possess these traits, whether they listen to TOOL or not.
As for purchasing a new CD after one is destroyed, you're probably right. Maybe it's a conspiracy, because it's happened with every one of my favorite CDs! I mean, when I accidentally stepped on my Stone Temple Pilots 'Core' album, I went to the store and bought a new one! And when I couldn't find my Alice in Chains 'Jar of Flies' album, I went to the store and bought a new one! Oh, and that time that my Nirvana 'Unplugged in New York' album was over played, and ultimately destroyed, I went to the store and bought a new one! It obviously wasn't because I love those albums and prefer listening to them as opposed to not listening to them, that I went and purchased new ones! It was because there were subliminal messages imbedded into them! It's the same thing when I lost my Backstreet Boys CD when I was seven! And my Rage Against the Machine, Nine Inch Nails, Mindless Self Indulgence, and KMFDM albums. Boy, thanks for clearing that up for me. All this time I thought I just liked the music! </sarcasm> If the site was not intended to have a religious nature, I really don't see why you would bother to include the "TOOL FANS ASK ABOUT GOD" section. But hey, I'll ask. I know more about the bible than most Christians, although I am not a Christian, and have no actual religion. I was raised by a Lutheran minister, and was taught about the bible. I attend church every Sunday and catechism on Wednesdays, but there are quite a few things I don't understand. Like, considering God is omniscient, why would he even bother to create existence if he knew we would screw everything up. Giving humans a sinful nature is like giving a pyromaniac matches. I'm sure you can figure that simile out. And of course, the infamous question, why does God permit such horrible things to happen? Don't even try feeding me your explanation of free thought, because God can stop it, but he doesn't. If I planted a bomb in a building and let it go off, it's my fault that people would be hurt. In the same way, God planted sinful nature into human's hearts, lets them make their own choices, and people are hurt. Wow, I sound like I actually believe that when I say it... As for "ENLIGHTENED OR PROGRAMED?"...What proof do you have that there are subliminal messages imbedded into TOOL's music? As for the lyrics, I don't believe you actually have TOOL's permission to use them. That would probably be a wise idea, considering you're violating copyright law, and they could sue you. Although it is my understanding that they could care less...
In the section that you posted replies to your site, I found it odd that you only posted one response, and it supported your speculations. Why not post any that contradict what you say? You're only giving one side of the argument.
I know a few Christians who listen to TOOL, and find nothing wrong with the lyrics. I mean, they wouldn't listen to it or engage in long-winded conversations about the meaning of the lyrics with me if they didn't, right? So please, step down from your pedestal. And for God's sake, put down your bible. |
