Our whirlwind introduction to Paris:
We arrived in the evening just before the France - Croatia match. We were met at the bus station by hostel-owner Maryse, who whisked us off to the Hotel de Ville (City Hall) square where the game was being broadcast on a huge outdoor television in front of thousands of screaming French fans.
When France won 2 to 1, the celebration in the streets lasted late into the night! We paraded all the way down the Champs-Elysees to the Arc de Triomphe.
And then 4 days later, France defeated Brazil in the final and the celebration was even bigger! Allez la bleu! |
