Peninsula Valdes Colonies of huge Elephant Seals congregate on the rocky beaches of the Atlantic Patagonian coast of Argentina. Flat, barren and brutally wind-swept -- eastern Patagonia is a complete contrast to the lush slopes of the western Patagonian Andes. But while the harsh landscape limits the human settlements to a few resource-based towns along the coast, the wildlife is abundant and thriving, especially on the Peninsula Valdes Wildlife Reserve.
Along with Elephant Seals are large Sea Lion colonies, Magellanic Penguins, Guanacos, Rheas and several whale species including the Southern Right Whale and Orca. A wildlife photographer's dream! |
