‘WHO AM I’

HEBREWS 2:6

"What is man that thou art mindful of him, or the son of man, that thou carest for him?

Is it that we are a building for him, a temple perhaps? 1 CORINTHIANS 3:9,16&17.

9. ‘…you are ………, God's building.’ ‘16. Do you not know that you are God's temple and that God's Spirit dwells in you?

17. If any one destroys God's temple, God will destroy him. For God's temple is holy, and that temple you are.

27. "But will God indeed dwell on the earth? (1 KINGS 8:27) Behold, heaven and the highest heaven cannot contain thee; how much less this house which I have built!

Perhaps we are more like God’s field (1 CORINTHIANS 3:9; ….you are God's field….), from which he expects to reap a rich harvest, satisfying to him. MATHEW 13:38; ….the field is the world, and the good seed means the sons of the kingdom; the weeds are the sons of the evil one… This analogy is similar to the one in JOHN 10:16 which speaks of us being a flock of sheep with God as our Shepard. 16. And I have other sheep, that are not of this fold; I must bring them also, and they will heed my voice. So there shall be one flock, one shepherd. Might we then be made to produce some good things for his pleasure? Or are we slaves and servant workers, wholly purposed to serve God and keep his commandments? EPHESIANS 6:6…but as servants of Christ, doing the will of God from the heart…

ECCLESIASTES 12:13; ‘The end of the matter; all has been heard. Fear God, and keep his commandments; for this is the whole duty of man.’

Truly though, it seems as if we were meant to be much more than just workers or fields or flocks because, ROMANS 5:10; For if while we were enemies we were reconciled to God by the death of his Son, much more, now that we are reconciled, shall we be saved by his life. Doesn’t this sound more like what someone would do for a friend?

(JOHN 15:13-15.)

          13. Greater love has no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends.

          14. You are my friends if you do what I command you

15. No longer do I call you servants, for the servant does not know what his master is doing; but I have called you friends, for all that I have heard from my Father I have made known to you.

Friendship however, does not go far enough! This relationship goes further than that.

HEBREWS 2:11: For he who sanctifies and those who are sanctified have all one origin. That is why he is not ashamed to call them brethren,

12. saying, "I will proclaim thy name to my brethren, in the midst of the congregation I will praise thee." Brothers? Are we brothers of Christ? Then children of God! 15. ‘it is the Spirit himself bearing witness with our spirit that we are children of God, (ROMANS 8:15&16)

16. and if children, then heirs, heirs of God and fellow heirs with Christ, provided we suffer with him in order that we may also be glorified with him.’

No wonder then, ‘Thou didst make him for a little while lower than the angels, thou hast crowned him with glory and honor’ (HEBREWS 2:7). And everything was meant to be subject unto us. But at the present we are not as we should be, but in Christ we share in the glory and honor and, indeed in his suffering also. And we will continue to do so, ‘until we all attain to the unity of the faith and of the knowledge of the Son of God, to mature manhood, to the measure of the stature of the fulness of Christ;’ (EPHESIANS 4:13). Does this not tell us that we are meant to be like Christ?

This is why God says, "Let us make man in our image, after our likeness; and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the birds of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creeps upon the earth."

27. So God created man in his own image, in the image of God he created him; male and female he created them.

This is why he is mindful of us and looks after us, because we are made in his image!
