His true age is unknow, probably at least 400 years. He's the oldest of the Homunculi.

Envy is the first son of Hohenheim, thus, making Edward and Alphonse his brothers. Greed, before he became a homunculus was a lover of Envy's mother.


Hates: He doesn't really enjoy fighting, but he has no problem doing so.

But the thing he hates the most, is Hohenheim, Ed and Al's father, and the brothers themselves.

Likes: Killing, working alone, causing grief.

Abilities: Shapeshifting. He can shapeshift into anyone in the anime, even change his voice to match the person.

Later in the series, it's revealed that he has incredible inhuman strength. And can at least shapeshift into one animal form, a huge green dragon.

Oroburous Location: His upper left leg.
Also worth mentioning, the symbol on his headband stands for "Clay"
This most likely has to do with the fact that he can change his shape, almost like clay.

Personality: Envy usually wears his emotions on his sleeve (though he has no sleeves). When he's angry, he lets you know it, same goes for when he's feeling spiteful, or happy. He's very intelligent, and knows what he wants. He usually follows the orders of "That Person", however, at times, he has acted on his own. Despite this, "That Person" is able to keep him in check by using Envy's intense hatred against him.

History:

The reason for his hatred of Hohenheim is because he is Envy's father. Envy's human self died of mercury poisoning about 400 years ago when he was around 18 (my guess). After Hohenheim's failed attempt to bring him back using human transmutation, he abandoned him. Afterwhich, "That Person" took him in. About 130 to 140 years before the start of the anime, Envy helped "That Person" seal Greed.

In some information I've come across, Mercury is said to be the element of androgyne, meaning someone who could be either gender, or both at the same time. It's interesting that Envy died of Mercury poisoning, and then choose to have an androgynous form. Mercury is also said to be a component in making the Philosopher's stone, perhaps Envy's human self was working on it before he died.

Survival in the Series

Envy only dies once in the anime, and that is at the hands of Hughes in episode 25. He survives the rest of the series and will be in the movie. From what I've heard he will be in his dragon form for all of the movie.
