The meeting proper started at exactly 8:10 p.m. last night after the sumptuous dinner hosted by the ever  kind and generous, Fr. Erick.

He started the meeting by  refreshing us of what has been discussed and agreed upon during the last meeting.

The following were taken up:

1. RONNEL SAMSON (Special Science Group) has been elected and has accepted his post as the Chairman of the THS Batch '78 Silver Jubilee Homecoming.  He presided the said meeting.  NELSON CEÑA remains as the Vice Chair with  PERLIE as secretary, EDMON LIAO as Finance Officer and LEONOR RIVERA PIGUING as Auditor.

2.    The following will be some of the activities during the Homecoming Week:  Medical Outreach for the poor people of Tondo on August 2 or 3;  an out-of-town excursion for those coming from abroad;  Balikbayan Night (Barrio Fiesta) to be hosted by Fr. Erick’s parish and school and the Homecoming Night on August 9 at Torres High School.

3.   There will be a Family Day for the Manila Group to be held on April 26.  It will be a full day of fun and bonding among our families to be highlighted by the Grand Bingo in the afternoon.

4.   THS Batch '78 will be officially incorporated and registered with the Securities and Exchange Commission.  There will be a total of Fifteen (15) Incorporators and Eight (8) Board of Trustees.

5.   A new committe on communication was formed to be headed by Evelyn Alcaraz Muallil, Jenny Jaymalin Isidro and Ramon L. Yap (Philippines),  Val Buzon (for Canada) and Rey Bisda (for USA).  Said committee is also part of the Secretariat Group.

6. Ronnel will preside on two core group meetings every month and vowed to attend and oversee the different committee meetings and get from each group their commitments to work and finalize the activities assigned.

7. Two new members of the Core Group came:  PEACHY CORPUZ VALDEZ (Special Science) and Ramon Yap (Science Group).

8. Fundings

- Ching will submit a sample of the ticket for the Bingo Sosyal to Fr. Erick for approval and printing; Ronnel will design the official logo for it.  (Bingo (more entertaining) won over the raffling of tickets thru a votation made by all the members of the core group.)

- Sales target will have to be determined in the next core group meeting

- Legalities on Bingo games were also taken up

- Fr. Erick will talk to his friend, Ai-Ai Delas Alas again regarding the concert.  (The previous arrangement with her was to serve as a back-up artist only for the Side A Band).  According to Fr. Erick, if the concert will be for Ai-Ai alone, the group will have to talk to her two (2) managers (Bancom) and a manager from the church (siya daw, yun!).

- Perlie will coordinate with Philip Mangay re:  arrangement with Joey G of the Side A Band

9. Leah reiterated the need for the batch to have a marketing arm for the proposed projects.  Brief discussions on this will be in the next core meeting.

10. The batch has an initial cash fund of P19,000.00.  Edmon, being the Finance Officer was tasked to inquire about the bank’s requirements for the opening of a current account for the association.  Signatory A includes Edmon Liao and Ronnel Samson while Nelson Ceña and Ching Albornoz were designated as the Signatory B.  The group agreed to open an account with RCBC.

11. A project committee will be formed and discussed in the next meeting also.  Proposed additional fund raising projects include ball room dancing, special bingo and cross-over (?).

The next core meeting has been scheduled on February 3, 2003, same time.  Venue will be announced.

As there is nothing more to discuss, the meeting adjourned at 10:30 p.m.
