Welcome

This is the Bold world of

Diego Rivera

Diego Rivera (1886-1957) was born in Guanajuato in central
Mexico. He began his art studies at the San Carlos Academy
of Fine Arts in Mexico City before travelling to Europe
to further his studies between 1907 and 1921.
After his return to Mexico, he became an active member of the
Communist Party. This was obvious in his belief that art
should serve the working people and be readily available to them.
As a result he became famous for his murals portraying the
history and social problems of Mexico.

The following paintings are NOT political, so are a little
out of the ordinary for Rivera....

Please be aware that the lower painting is a nude, seen from
the rear. I don't find it offensive in any way, but if you are
likely to, please simply use the 'back' button on your browser
and go on to the next page.

' A View of Toledo'
This is a study of an original work of the same
name painted by El Greco in 1597.
(I've got a copy of it hanging on my lounge room wall)
Like to see it?
It's here!
