Welcome
TO THE TO THE WIERD AND WONDERFUL
WORLD OF
REMEDIOS VARO

Born in 1908, Anglés Cataluña Spain. Died 1963, Mexico City.
Varo and her French husband, Benjamin Péret, escaped the nazi
occupation of France by moving to Mexico City in 1942. It was
in Mexico that she painted many of her finest works.

Varo is acknowledged as one of the great surrealist painters,
although she is relatively unknown. Her paintings are dreamlike
and filled with symbolism.
