Name:
Arrias the Scribe

Age:
24

Physical description:
Of medium height and build, with dark hair unkempt in the manner of most men raised in Karse's highlands. Sets himself apart with a well-trimmed beard, a dented pair of glasses, and a threadbare black robe.

Personality/Attitude:
Polite and introspective, but given to occasional outbursts of anger and intellectual theory. Has moments of humility and self-doubt, but is ultimately unwilling to be a passive observer in life. He's capable, in his worst moments, of stupidity, arrogance, and indifference to suffering.

Brief History:
He's inclined toward religious mysticism, and prides himself on being one of the few in the rural village of Irntwin who can read and write well. He has read the Writ of Vkandis thoroughly, and started a hidden sect of the religion prior to Solaris' ascension to the office of Son of the Sun—a very, very small sect limited to a few shepherds and farmers in Irntwin who were clients and friends.

Four years ago, when traveling Sunpriests came to Irntwin, apparently set on a witch-power inquisition, Arrias and his friends helped his younger, mindspeech-gifted sister, Bortha, cross the border into Valdemar—a very hard task at that time, as hostilities were still flaring between Valdemar and Karse. He has not heard from her since.

With Solaris newly in power, and an alliance with Valdemar in the works, Arrias has decided to cross over from Karse into Valdemar, both to seek out his sister and to proselytize his version of Vkandis' Writ.

Goals in life:
To receive religious enlightenment as well as a respectable, formal rank of Sunpriest. Wants to serve Vkandis on his own terms. Also wants approval from as many people as possible—what other people think of him and his ideas matters a lot to him.

Gifts:
None.

Position:
Arrias has spent his entire adult life as a record-keeper, letter writer, and reader for residents of Irntwin who have never learned to read or write. However, now that he is leaving Karse, he calls himself a Sunpriest of Vkandis.
