Name:
Calix Barr

Age:
16

Physical Description:
short light brown hair, medium build, blue-green eyes, tan, about 5'11"ish

Personality/ Attitude:
Doesn't have much common sense. He's very curious. Once he sets his mind to something he's going to do it. In other words: stubborn. But no matter the trouble, luck is usually on his side. He also has a very optimistic view on life.

Brief History (or not, lol):
Calix was lounging on one of his favorite chairs tuning one of his many instruments. He was winding down to prepare himself for the big shindig his parents were throwing to improve their social status--as if it weren't high enough. A knock on the door threw him out of his meditative state.

"AHEM. Can we come in?" Without waiting for a reply Belden, his father, pushed open. Calix wondered what They were doing here. Shouldn't they be off sprucing up something that was already gaudy?

His mother's face was the picture of childish excitement. "We've got splendid news!" Abra gushed.

`Good news for Them is bad news for me.' Before he could reply Maya, his older sister, barged through the door.

She glanced at Calix. "My poor baby! I heard!" she ran across the room and wrapped him in a hug. "I refuse to let you go through with this! It is monstrous!" she told their parents.

Abra's face fell. "Darling, this is a grand opportunity for Calix." Calix stared at all of them, bewildered. "Son, you're going into priesthood!" His eyes bulged.

"P-p-pre-priestho-oo-od?" he stammered. He clutched the sides of his chair. His mother applauded herself audibly. `Something quick! Something… Anything… Collegiums… I have Healing talent! No, no. I've killed too many pets and plants to pull that one off. I want to be an Artificer! UGH! No, not smart enough. The Guard! Nope, too lazy. Herald! YES! NOOOOOOOOOO! Where am I going to find one of those white horses?' He was beginning to panic. There had to be… "Mother. Father. I have some pleasant, yet saddening, news." He told them in his most sincere voice.

His father shot him a questioning look. Maya released her hold on Calix so that she could study her brother. Calix kept his face composed. He was going to have to handle this lie delicately. "As much as you know I would enjoy being a part of the church, I cannot. Though, I thank you for offering me the chance that so few are graced with." He paused, wondering if *that* were true. "But I am destined to follow another path. You see, I have the Bardic Gift." He kept his eyes focused on his father, he knew his mother and sister well enough to know that *they* were buying it.

One of the servants tapped lightly on the door. "Master Barr? You cousin, Bard Stayl, has arrived." Calix gulped, but remained composed.

"Good. Send him up," commanded Belden.

**Calix was rather surprised to find that he *had* been telling the truth all along. He had 2/3 of the things needed to be schooled at the Collegium. The one he lacked was creativity in his composing... ((To make a longER story short))

To compose a popular song… or, well, *any* decent song
