Name:
Granny Sevenborn

Age:
55+

Physical Description:
Thin and wiry. "Scrawny." Wears bulky clothes to hide her skinny frame. Grey hair in a bun. Dark eyes. Beaky nose. Scowls a lot.

Personality/Attitude:
Sharp-tongued and practical. Not friendly, but not mean, either.

Brief History:
Hardornian herb witch, displaced from war; wound up in Haven helping after one of the mage storms. No family. Cousins & such somewhere back in Hardorn. (Was called "granny" as a general respect label.)

Goals in life:
Enjoy what's left of life. (Red hat, purple dress philosophy.) Find new niche for herself. Learn new magic without compromising sense of self. Teach these youngsters some respect for other methods.

Gifts:
Earth magic, herb magic. Possibly others unexplored. Experienced herb-witch with little formal training.

Position:
Trainee at Mage's Collegium. Journeyman ability, when trained. (Some abilities at Journeyman; some nearly at master; many at apprentice or lower.)

Author's Comments:
Could be new to Collegium, just brought in from the border, or have been there a while.

Sample quote:
"Don't care for all this 'reach into the stars' gimcrackery. Give me a good stick and a handful of cooking herbs; I'll set yer wards for ye. Ain't no dark spirit never crossed a proper line of salt and mugwort."

Extra details:
Has great talent with love/lust/attraction herb-spells, minor healing talent (not enough to go to healer's college, but some healing spells), some magic sensing abilities. Untrained at grounding, groupwork, ley lines/nodes, working with stones, summoning/banishing, shielding (except w/extensive prepwork); can put protections and some other magics into herbal candles).

Doesn't like "mystic mumblings." Terminology she doesn't understand gets ignored. Implications there's something wrong with her current methods set her bristling. Enjoys the confusion of the Collegium staff, who don't want to call her "Granny Sevenborn" or "Granny," and feel ridiculous calling her "Miss Sevenborn." She tells them she's been GS for so long she's forgotten whatever other name she had. "Jes' call me Granny; everyone does."

Encourages youngsters to get into trouble. Not much sympathy with youthful love, but not cruel to those disappointed. Capable of being polite and even genteel (for a peasant), but generally doesn't bother.

Has never been married. Apprentice to another herb-witch in her teens. The old witch died a very long time ago, just before her apprenticeship was officially finished.
