Personality/ Attitude

Kivetta is a bright young woman, fiercely loyal to her friends, her fellow Heralds and to her duty as a Herald. She’s the type that ‘fights hard, works hard, plays hard’ and tends to be overwhelming when people first meet her, although a chosen few soon learn that her bold, aggressive and outgoing personality are a cover for her compassion and her sense of right and wrong.  She’s stubborn and strong headed, determined and willful, though her Companion and the Collegium have trained her to direct her energy to where it will be of good use.

Brief History

Kivetta grew up in the slums of Haven, living with her mother, Amiva—a prostitute at The Drunken Barrel, one of Haven’s more notorious and seedier spots.  She ran the streets with the rest of the street children, including a couple of her siblings, who like her, were ‘fatherless’.  She learned to cut purses, how to filch things from vendors and how to set up a good diversion. While impoverished, she was loved by her mother (as much as the woman could) and the barkeep, who treated all the children that came to him like his own. They were moral-less, not heartless.

Her gift of Foresight showed up when she was just thirteen, while she sat a table in the tavern, watching her mother lead a merchant up the stairs to her room.  A strong image of the man strangling her mother caused her to gasp. One of the other children, Fyler, started teasing her and she ignored the vision, in lieu of returning the challenge presented to her by Fyler. As they headed outside, the vision came to her again and again she ignored it. The third time she received it, she and Fyler were in the alley behind the tavern, plotting their liberation of a purse from a merchant.  With Fyler and the barkeep in tow, she lead them to her mother’s room… where nothing was happening.  The next vision hit two weeks later, with the same man and another of the girls. Again, the barkeep found nothing malevolent occurring in the room. As it was, Kivetta’s visions were true and the barkeep’s appearance had simply delayed the man from killing from the women.

Endless teasing from Fylet prompted Kivetta to keep quiet about her ‘visions’ and she told no one, until again the merchant returned six months later. In the months prior, Kivetta’s older sister, Miliana, had taken up the ‘family’ profession and it was her Kivetta had the vision about. A little bolder and a little taller, she intervened at the man’s wagon, only to find she was too late to prevent Miliana’s death. About to raise alarm, Kivetta was grabbed by the man and tied up in the wagon, next to her sister. It was then a voice sounded in her head, telling her to ‘Hold on, I’m almost there!’ Some minor thought occurred to Kivetta, before the need to survive took over again.  The wagon went faster and faster, and Kivetta could hear horses behind them, shouting and finally, the wagon hauling to a stop so hard one of the wheels broke. A rather heavy basket pitched off a shelf and landed square on Kivetta’s head, knocking her out.

In short, two Heralds had stopped the man and turned him over to the guard. They had been alerted to the event by an unpartnered Companion, coming for her Chosen when the wild girl had decided to take on the murdered by herself. And so began the partnership of Brohdie (mare) and Kivetta, who was duly Impressed upon her revival.

The knock to the head only strengthened her ForeSight and opened her Mindspeech.

Goals in life

To definitely not end up like her mother or her sister. To perhaps teach at the Collegium when she became too old to ride circuit.
