3rd Year Healer Trainee

High Strength Healing
Low Strength Empathy
Appearance
Unfortunately for Liselle, she could never be described as stunning in
an age where a buxom blonde with childbearing hips is held up as the
epitome of beauty. At 5'10'' she tends to tower over both her female
and male colleagues, while her willowy figure and rather startling
lack of any real curves together give her the appearance of an
oversized stick. However, with further inspection, she is pretty in a
quietly unobtrusive fashion. Liselle's eyes are her best feature, a
dark chocolate brown; they tilt upwards at the outer corners and
always appear to glimmer with a faint trace of amusement. Her face is
heart shaped with a small snub nose and a stubbornly pointed chin. She
is very conscious of the freckles which lightly dust her nose and
cheeks and the way her two front teeth have a slight gap between them.
Although Liselle's mouth is too wide to be described as pretty, there
is always a smile hovering at the edge of her lips, as if she were
laughing at a secret joke that only she can hear. Her hair is a dark
chestnut brown and tumbles over her shoulders in jumbled layers.
Personality
Liselle is a gentle, caring, complex and intuitive individual.
Artistic and creative, she lives in a world of hidden possibilities.
Liselle is often considered a mystery, even to people who know her well. Although she has a small group of friends in which she is able to confide in, access to her inner-circle is rarely provided and is reliant on a long and trustworthy friendship. A hard person to get to know, she tends to spend most of her life within her own thoughts and has an unusually rich inner life. To the majority of people she is friendly with a slight reserve that is almost impenetrable. The only exception to this is with her patients, a person in need is able to infiltrate all of her carefully constructed defences.
Although Liselle spends the majority of her life with her head in the clouds, that's not to say that she's impractical. A perfectionist, she places a high importance on herself to achieve both academically and personally. Considered the `perfect' student by many of her teachers, Liselle is at the top of almost all of her classes. Although she tends to achieve better in classes with teachers who she likes and admires, Liselle enjoys academic activity and finds her studies relatively easy. In particular, reading and the written word hold a strong fascination for her. Despite her achievements, Liselle often doubts that she is living up to her full potential. There is a rarely a moment where she is at complete peace with herself - there's always something else she could be doing to improve either herself or the world around her. As Liselle has a strong value system and a high expectation of herself, it would be a rare situation in which she allowed herself to compromise her ideals.
Liselle places a great importance of having things orderly and systematic within her inner and outer worlds. However, she also relies on her intuition and instincts. Because Liselle has such strong intuitive capabilities, she trust's her own instincts above all else. This often results in a stubbornness and tendency to ignore other people's opinions that has gotten her into trouble many times.
Of all Liselle's qualities however, the one that shines through the most is her genuine warmth. She is sincerely concerned about the people around her and humanity in general. This allows her to face each situation that arises with compassion, understanding and tact, regardless of the people involved. This has stood her in good stead for the majority of her healing studies, and allows her to take quite an optimistic view of proceedings. Liselle likes to please others and contributes her absolute best effort in all situations. However the other side of this, is that she finds conflict extremely disagreeable and destructive, to the point that she internalizes situations and experiences health problems herself when under a lot of stress.
History
Liselle grew up on the southern border of Valdemar near Rethwellan
with her grandfather. Although to many people it seemed a confined and
lonely existence in their small village, for Liselle it was perfect.
She shared a special bond with her grandfather and the two suited each
other perfectly. A highly educated and well respected engineer in his
younger days, her grandfather loved to tell her stories of his many
misadventures as a young man. He would also tell her about her mother
and father, who both died when she was growing up. Although her mother
in particular, was merely a shadowy memory to her, her grandfather
always managed to bring her to life.
Although many people in their small village disapproved of Liselle's unorthodox existence with her grandfather, she refused to have it any other way. For all her grandfather's love of Liselle, he made a horrible housewife and an even worse cook, so much so that she took over the household duties from a young age. This worried many of the other women of the village to such an extent that several even offered to look after her, since Liselle couldn't bear to be separated from her grandpa though, the situation remained the same. Although, the offers of adoption eventually ceased, it didn't stop them from helping in other ways. Liselle was often overrun with meals and clothing, when someone had `accidentally' made too much.
Perhaps due to the death of her parents, Liselle always wanted to be a healer. She just wasn't sure that it was possible; firstly because she'd never shown any tendencies towards the healer's `magic' and secondly, as there was no way she could leave her grandfather alone with a clear conscience. Then, at fifteen, her gifts suddenly manifested and Liselle found that it wasn't a matter of wanting to heal, she physically had to. With no idea of how to control her gifts, she spent most of her time either out cold or with a splitting headache. Fortunately, salvation came with a herald on circuit, who after quickly summing up the situation ordered her, in no uncertain terms, to go to the Healer's Collegium in Haven. Then, in what Liselle still believes to be an act of magic or the work of a kind fairy, the herald found her grandfather a place to stay near the Collegium where he could be taken care of for free.
Three years later and Liselle is now happily ensconced in the Healer's Collegium. After serving a placement at a nearby village for the past year, she has just returned to Haven in order to complete her training.
Goals
To find a cure for… well… everything.
To look after her grandfather to the best of her abilities.
