Name:
Mayson Varsayus
Position:
Bardic Trainee
(hopefully, later, Bard)
Age/Gender:
17/Male
Physical Description:
Standing at a height of 5'11", Mayson weights in at a solid 200 lbs. He wears
his chestnut color hair shoulder length and can usually be found dressed in
finer clothing. Strikingly handsome, his high cheekbones and strong jaw are set
off by piercing emerald green eyes. Mayson's well-muscled build and dark tan are
the result of many days of working on his father's ships.
Personality/Attitude:
Mayson is overconfident and at times, a little arrogant. The second son of a
wealthy lord, there was little Mayson had to want for. Blessed with good looks,
those things he did want for, he had an easier time of getting than most. While
his time on the ships with the sailors and fishermen helped bring his lofty
attitude back down to earth, there are times he backslides into acting like an
ass.
Brief History:
Born and raised as a lord's son, Mayson grew up in a world without want. His
father, patriarch of Varsayus family, owned the largest fishing fleet on Lake
Evendim, out of Zoe. As such, much of Mayson's time was spent on or in the
water. When he wasn't swimming or sailing, his time on dry land was spent with a
guittern or lute in hand as was his favorite hobby.
While skilled in sailing, fishing, and trading, Mayson preferred to work the war
boats that protected the Varsayus fishing fleet from pirates. The captain of the
war boats, Barrik, looked after Mayson as if the boy were his own son. During a
celebration after the defeat of a group of pirates, Barrik witnessed the effects
of Mayson's carousing song on the war ship's crew. Realizing the boy's bardic
talents, Barrik used Mayson's gift to fill the crew with fury before a struggle
with a clan of raiders. After a number of these inspirational songs, the word
spread to a Bard travelling in the Deer Creek area. While the choice to leave
was a difficult one, Mayson accepted the recruiting offer of the Bard. While he
loved the lake, there was much of the world Mayson still wished to see.
Goals:
To become a skilled enough bard and swordsman to support his ego.
Gifts:
A strong bardic gift that seems much more compelling when conveying disorderly
behaviors. His creativity is above average, but the majority of his writings
center around the lake, sailing, or fighting pirates. He's an incredible
swimmer, a great fisherman, and reasonable at mending clothes. His skills with a
sword and bow are good, but not great. He can also navigate an area by using the
stars alone.
Companion/Bondbird:
None.

Author's Comments:
While Mayson can be quite the ass, he's not without his weaknesses and his
failures. While he's smart and competitive enough to keep them hidden under a
cool exterior, Mayson has to let his guard down eventually. Those he vents to
can see the person Mayson actually is, and can find a loyal friend in him.
