History:
Memnar was the youngest son of a middling-ranked noble of the Empire. Discovered his mage-Talent at a young age. Because all his siblings showed equal levels of Talent, his prowess was honed and battle-tested before he reached his 16th birthday. He managed to survive, and eliminate all but two of his brothers. The two eldest remaining joined forces against him, and he turned to blood magic to gain the extra edge he needed for survival. He managed to slay his last two brothers, but upon discovering that Memnar had used blood magic, his father disowned him, and threatened to bring down the wrath of the Empire for such a disgraceful act. Memnar fled, and hid himself in the lands near White Gryphon. He discovered a method of using blood magic to "steal" mind-talents of his victims, though the stolen talents were difficult to control, and faded after a time. In exile, he put together a group of bandits that preyed on caravans, as well as kidnapping the occasional talented person and murdering them for their powers.
Until he attacked Aidanna and her family caravan. His bandits descended upon them, slaying all but Aidanna. Memnar attempted to steal her gift, as yet unawakened. Her rage, terror and pain triggered her gift to manifest, resulting in a fiery inferno that consumed the bandits, and nearly destroyed her and Memnar as well. Memnar escaped, barely. He spent a long time in hiding, healing himself and plotting his next course. Upon discovering Aidanna still alive and headed north to Valdemar, he followed at a discreet distance, now very wary of the young fire starter. He hid himself in the underbelly of Haven, taking great care to hide all sign of his presence, planning and plotting. He despaired of ever getting his hands on Aidanna again, for she was sequestered in the Palace, surrounded by people and beings of purest Light, and he knew he couldn't face opponents like that... Yet... He plotted and planned some more, making contacts and bargains with the shadows, and when Aidanna finally stepped foot out of the Palace, he was ready, and his greatest plan ever was set into motion.
Goals:
To be the bad guy, of course! LOL! Ok, he wants Power. He also wants revenge on Aidanna for daring to resist him and trying to kill him, no matter that she had no control over her gift at the time. He currently plans to use the power he'll gain from her in blood rites to strengthen himself, and prepare for the mission the other bad guys gave him. (In other words, point him in the direction of the next Herald the other bad guys want out of the picture, GM.) He hungers after the node he can sense but cannot touch under the Palace. He sees working with the plotters against the Valdemaran throne as the best way to get to that node, though he does have a "Plan B", should that fall through. In exchange for a steady supply of victims, and a "safe house", Memnar is almost at the beck and call of your baddies. He's also insatiably curious about the Companions, and the possibilities that exist should he get his paws on one, but he's not willing to attempt capturing one yet.
